I had no clue Godot had a Steam version until I saw a LazyAlarm video about VR games. Downloading the engine from Steam was the perfect opportunity for me to make the switch to Godot 4.0.

I love this engine, it's my go-to for most of my projects and I always love using it. The engine itself is really lightweight and simple but it's packed with so many functionalities. Everything is fast even on my old laptop, allowing me to work practically anywhere. Heck there's even a mobile version to demonstrate how flexible this engine is. This engine is so powerful that you can even make a whole other game engine inside of it (RPG in A Box I'm looking at you).

The node system is really good in my opinion. The particle2D and the family of control nodes are some of my favourites, but there's one particular node that stands out to me: the animationplayer node. This node is amazing, you can do so much with it. It can play sounds, enable and disable nodes, move objects, etc... and all that without any code!

Speaking of code, I learnt a bit of python before knowing Godot and it translates quite well to GDScript. And when I need help on issues that I can't find in the engine's documentation (ctrl + click to open the documentation is really useful btw), the community always has me covered. And the community made plugins are also a big part of what makes Godot so good. For example the Instance Dock plugin by KoBeWi is a life changer, it makes designing levels so much easier.

And the cherry on top is that this engine is free of charge and open-source, meaning that you really own everything that you create with it.

Overall, a fantastic engine. You should definitely give it a shot if you're interested in development, wether you are a beginner or a veteran.
