elite dangerous is a fantastic game. adding monetization so that both the game and the company continue to exist is a good thing in my book. if you dont want to pay for early access to a ship then don't. wait till it comes out proper. if youve put any effort into the game then youve probably already got ships better than the premades you can buy. if youre new to the game grab a premade ship for 15 ish dollars and immediately be able to play with your friends. i have purchased arx before, and will again, because i am one of the players that likes my ships to be shiny.

its an adorable productivity tool with built in study timer, journal, lofi music, habit tracker, to do list, and my personal favorite a soundscape designer with 16 different sounds to mix like rain wind thunder fire and pink brown and white noise.
