I have never written a serious review on any game before. But for Ori and the Will of the Wisps I had to do so because the game is so incredibly great. I loved the first Ori, it is one of my favourites games but Moon Studio managed to capture what made the first game so great and went a step further, basically creating a piece of art. If I had to rate it, this game is a serious 10/10. I have fellt things playing this game I've never experienced before. If you aren't sure if you should buy the game or if it's really worth the full 30€: ABSOLUTLY, just buy it, you won't regret it.

I'm going to break the things I want to say about the game down in 4 categories: Music, Story, Graphics and Gameplay.
In my opinion the combination of these 4 aspects is why this game is so perfect.

Music

I'm going to start with music, because it is easily the most overlooked thing about this game.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps has an incredible soundtrack. Every moment that is captured in the game is perfectly in sync with the music. Overall the soundtrack just fits perfectly to the theme of the game. You can easily listen to the soundtrack on its own, I would even recommend to do so. You can either buy the full 3 hours on steam or just listen to it on spotify. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Story

Obiously I am not going to spoil you the story of the game. All I can say is that it's great. It's like a modern fairy tale.
There are some moments in the game which caused me to just stare at my screen for minutes. I cried of sadness, I cried tears of joy, I smiled, I kind of did everything at once. There are no major cutscenes like in a triple A blockbuster, but Ori doesn't need anything like this. The storytelling and the characters are so simple but yet so effective and have so much depth to it, you could probably write a book about an intepretation of the story.

Graphics

This game has one of the most beautiful artstyles of any game out there. Everything looks like it is completly handdrawn in hours and days of work. Combined with the music, you can just sit there and watch your screen and do nothing.
Every part of the map is filled with so many details that you could think it really exists somewhere, even though Ori ist "just" a 2D Metroidvania.

Gameplay

Ori is a Metroidvania. The first game had incredibly ghameplay but Ori and the Will of the Wisps took every point of the first game and improved on it.

You have a wider selection of skills which can be found and leveled throughout the game. They even implemented some kind of perk selection, which can also be aquired and leveled.

The overall feeling of Ori is incredibly smooth. I had tons of fun just running around using my movement skills to advance the map and search for secrets and collectibles (there are many of them). There are about 12-15 skills of which you can freely equip 3 of them (you can change them at all times), most of them being combat skills. On top of that you get the movement skills which can always be used, but often require some objects in the map to work. At some points the controlls can be a bit wonky, but for me personally, that happened so little it didn't really bother much. The more you play the better you get at the movement and if you mastered it, it feels so incredibly satisfying.

I played the game on normal difficulty and found that perfect for my first playtrough. The game was challenging, but never frustrating (but still, you are probably going to die alot in your first run).

Conclusion

Just play the game. It's perfect.
