Really cool game concept that's incredibly fun to play. Not the longest game in the world, but there's a ton of post-game challenges and stuff for people who want to absolutely master the combat. Runs nicely on steam deck, however I couldn't play this on my tv through my dock due to it causing enough of delay to impact my timing, but playing with just the deck itself was flawless

Wonderfully charming game with fantastic art and a fun story! Has a good mystery that keeps you going and wanting to see all the paths. A fun little choose your own adventure, plus it worked very nicely on steam deck, I'd recommend it!

Fantastic game, great writing, fun mechanics, just an all around great time that I highly recommend, especially if you wanna make the girls smooch for stat boosts in battle. Also a kickass soundtrack!

Pretty fun game even now, particularly for the price you can get this on sale. Despite being a live service game, I think playing it solo as a traditional single player game, going through the world and doing the main and side missions, works rather nicely. Gameplay is pretty fun, though for a looter shooter the game is very stingy on the loot early on. I think by level 10 or so this improves, and by endgame stuff drops very often, but early on you're really relying on mission rewards and buying/crafting. Overall fun time though, looking forward to trying Division 2 at some point.

Despite liking the first game (more specifically the remaster, though I did play the demo of the original back in the day), the sequel just isn't doing it for me. This game doesn't have nearly the same charm as the first one to me, which is a shame. I just don't find the hippie humor and focus on Crypto talking and working with humans as interesting as the first game's focus on invading, going from a small rural area to the Capital. From what I can tell, this is a pretty faithful remake of the original release with some QoL changes, so it's not necessarily the remake's fault. I think this is something you just had to play when it first came out and have some nostalgia for to truly like it. If you did, you'll most likely enjoy revisiting it here. If you didn't, then it might be worth checking out the demo to see what you think first, but I can't recommend this based on my experience.

Fantastic mix of a farming sim with an action rpg! Has some wonderful characters as well as a truly amazing story with some twists that blew me away in their exectuion. I highly recommend this!

Consider this review more of a neutral review than a true negative, but with steam's binary recommendation system, I've gotta pick the one that feels more right.

This game's sense of humor just did not work for me at all, which kills a lot of what this game is offering. It'll no doubt work for some people, but it was just miss after miss for me. The only reason I kept playing is just because 3D platforming collectathons are one of my favorite types of games, and this was one of the few I had but hadn't beaten yet. Mechanically it's a pretty solid and fun time. The movement feels a bit weird at first, it kinda feels like every surface is made of ice and slippery thanks to the momentum, but it's something you get used to after a while. You have some really solid abilities with the grappling that allow you to do some pretty cool stuff once you get enough upgrades, letting you feel like you're outmaneuvering a level when you find a cool little skip for a section. There's plenty of stuff to collect, though there's enough in each section to kinda make you wish one of the upgrades you could get pointed out collectibles, since you will almost certainly need to sit through a guide to help you figure out where the 1/20 cans you missed were in a section. But I don't think the mechanics and satisfying collectibles are enough to save this for me.

I'd only really recommend this if you are a big fan of 3D platforming collectathons and are truly desperate for a new one you haven't played yet. Or if you think the trailer is the funniest thing you've ever seen I suppose. But otherwise I think you're better off passing.

I really want to like this game. I think it has a fantastic foundation, giving you a bunch of different forms with different abilities and gameplay, little missions to let you power up and unlock new stuff, a solid sense of humor and good writing. But there are some QoL issues that make this game frustrating to play. The biggest offender for me is the quick swap wheel for your different forms, which is a good feature implemented in the worst way possible. There is no way for you to manually customize it to put which forms you want on the wheel, instead it's just the 8 most recent ones you used. If you go into a menu to pick a new form, it replaces the one it's been the longest since you've used, which means that it's constantly mixing them up and getting them out of order, killing any muscle memory you might develop. Also you pick a form with the wheel open using the left stick, which is the same one used for movement (right stick isn't used at all), and the wheel doesn't pause combat, meaning if you open it in combat you're gonna stop dead in your tracks while you figure out where the form you want is, letting enemies hit you while you flounder around. It's such an easy fix to make that work better, I have no idea why they made it that way.

There's also some smaller issues, like some story dungeons locking progress for your quests for seemingly no reason. I also have some issues with the sense of progression in the game and not really feeling like I'm getting any stronger as I level up, but I think that one is more about personal preference and I'm guessing plenty of people like the way the game handles progression and leveling up.

This is a neat game that no doubt works for a lot of people, but it just falls a little short for me personally. Also worth mentioning I only played the single player, so I can't judge how good the co-op is.

Great game with a less than great ending. Despite that, the journey to said ending is a great time! I think FC4 is still my favorite, so I'd recommend that one first, but this one is only a step or two behind. Haven't played the dlc yet, but they seem neat and I'll check them out soon. Despite saying the game is unsupported on deck, I played the entire thing on it, just requires switching the game to proton experimental (and preferably having a setup where you can play with keyboard and mouse). Considering the steep discount this game has right now, I'd say go for it whether you're a fan of the series or trying for the first time!
