very boring and terrible game that barely works, do not buy!

Pros:
* graphics are good and are well optimized
* being on the source engine & steam workshop support allows for mods
Cons:
* zombie ai is terrible to say the least. Zombies will freeze (not even from lag) on objects and not move. Other times zombies have gotten close enough to you to attack but then just freeze and not move.
* there are barely any servers and joining a game mode from the default "find game" menu has never worked for me
* BALANCE - zombies will almost always win, even if the survivors outnumber the zombies. I get that it's meant to be a "realistic" game but you should not die from a couple of hits from a zombie irl. If your neighbor turned into a zombie and attacked you a few punches and bites (except to some areas) would not kill you.
* realism - again, this game tries to be realistic but fails miserably. Shots to the main body do almost no damage while headshots do exponential damage; only one headshot is needed to kill a zombie, from any weapon. For example, a shotgun blast to the stomach doesn't even phase a zombie but a glock bullet to the head will kill it. A lack of weapon variety is also unrealistic with only ~20 weapons in the game.
* content - with only ~20 weapons, most of which are uninspired, almost cookie cutter, melee weapons, and only a few maps, most of which are reused for multiple uninspired, boring game modes, this game is not worth $20
* replayibility - again, there are only a few game modes, most of which get tedious fast and are unbalanced. The extraction game mode, for example, has you running around to multiple houses trying to save survivors. However, the game mode is extremely unbalanced due to the game mechanics themselves being unbalanced and unrealistic. I have never seen humans win the round ever, even on "easy" mode.

A very fun (and a little bit twisted) multiplayer co-op fps. Although the frequent dlc is a little offputting, the game can still be very enjoyable and features a lot of base content without dlc (it is interesting to note that there are updates that added weapons for no cost and most of the dlc is aesthetic). There is also a leveling system which is fun and balanced. I highly recommend this game to any fans of co-op shooters, especially left 4 dead.
