And as for the 8 year old question, as a very little kidI went to a store that had a bunch of bigger-than-usual stuff and I thought it was cool. There was also Toy Story and the Army Men games, but those weren't really direct influences. But anyway a few years after that I got a computer, played Quake 2, and made a map called bigroom, and then CTF-Bedrooms for UT99 and then just kept making them for various games because people liked them and they're pretty easy to do, but as I've learned after a few iterations of that theme, hard to do well depending on the game.
