I tend not to play RPGs or at least keep a distance or ignore them in any way possible. They are out of my comfort zone and I can do nothing about it, I'm too scared, too frightened to fire it up and it is especially hard for me to start such a long journey and commit myself to +40h of story. But at the same time I adore RPGs, I love them with all my heart and I love that they make me feel the way they do.

I was thinking about playing KOTOR but I never had a chance to. I heard a lot of positive responses over the years of its existence so I got it on Steam Sale. This is one of the most prominent representatives of RPG genre with great story telling, one of the most unexpected plot twists I've ever seen implemented in a video game, 6 different planets for you to explore filled with side quests, loot, lightsabers and other shenanigans for you to find. It features excellent character skill tree and "d20 roll" system (named after the iconic 20-sided dice) which seems the most honest one.

What started as a freeware platform-adventure game has ended up on Steam in 2011, an enhanced version of the original game Cave Story. This is a great platformer with engaging storyline, unique set of characters, funny and well-written dialogue, an arsenal of inventive weapons, secret chambers, chests and upgrades, humongous range of bosses to fight agains. The game features three different endings and two graphical settings to choose from: original or remastered; as well as three types of soundtrack: original, remastered and brand new one written especially for Wii release of the game. It's worth checking out this game if you have some free time and want to take a break from all the Call of Duties, Medal of Honors and Battlefields.

Never really thought that I would buy this game, but I gave it a chance since this is the only game my notebook can possibly handle and at the first glace this seems to be diablo clone, but it is an amazing RPG with an interesting world, Skyrim-like skill tree and tons of beautifully written quests which are serious sometimes, but will give you plenty to laugh from once in a while.
