A great game, with a nice story and good characters, only ever overshadowed by the masterpiece that was YsVIII

Mechanic wise it's a reteling of YsVIII with your base you deck out and recruit more and more characters to, that opens up more mechanics and side stories for you to tackle, but it doesn't hit as well as the village in YsVIII did, the city of Balduq is also not as good to explore as Seiren Island was, and the devs coudl've added a lot more nooks and cranies for us to explore.

The main characters are, with the exception of Renegade, all great characters, renegade is way to whiny and end up as the medieval version of a reddit user.

Story is great, with REALLY nice twists at the end for the veteran of the series, which was a nice and sometimes touching detail i loved.

Combat is the exact same as Ys VIII, which will divide people once again because of it's over reliance on parrying everything.

Sound... it's a Nihon Falcom game, so it's another 12/10, amazing work as always.

There is some weird localization quips though, NISA beign NISA can't hold themselves and put their millenial jokes and references that no one wants into the game, so i would advise to buy on sale, just to not give them full profit.

Aside from the localization, it's a solid game, and i do recommend, just as i recommend the entire series.

I can't recommend this one, it's shorter than the other gunvolt games (which are already really short games) the gameplay is clunky and a step back from copen's gameplay on IX 1 and gunvolt 2, the story is filler and is one step from being a "it's all a dream" story and i'm almost sure there is more content on the DLC than in the game itself.
Just buy Gunvolt 2, way better experience.

This game has, quite possibly, the best movement tech i've ever seen in a platformer, maybe in any game ever actually.
It's quite short, i'm a very slow player and i finished it in 5 hours, but the map is really well done and only restrict you as far as your skill let it, with very few instances of areas where you NEED a upgrade to go through (aside from the 3 main "sun upgrades": the slide jump, the wall jump and pogo hop)
But i can safely tell you, all those 5 hours were amazing, i legit felt like a goat going on places i positively shouldn't have any bussiness going.

I recommend wholehearted to anyone that likes metroidvanias and technical 3d platformers like mario64.

For the developer, i thank you for this amazing experience and wait with bated breath for your next game!

First let's get this out of the way, gameplay wise, the game is amazing, the world is rich and full of secrets and non-scripted moments that makes it actually feel alive, and i would give the game a 9/10, and only a 9/10 because Magick Knight is not in the game.

Now... the reason why i can't recommend this game:
Performance is all out of wack, something went terribly wrong in the development of the game to make it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heavy, it doesn't look like a "next-gen" game as they told us, it's very beautiful, yes, but not to the point where people with 4080 are having FPS drops because there is more 10 npcs in the screen.
Crashes, lots of people having crashes, and crashes are not consistent, so it doesn't seen to be hardware-based, but actually code-related.

Basically, the game is playable to maybe 20% of the playerbase in Steam, so even though i can play the game in 60FPS with barely no problems, i can't really recommend this in good faith.

when, or IF, capcom fixes those problems, i will change my review, until then, this will be a not recommended for me.

oh yeah, we also can't make short characters, and based on what mods found out, it was late decision because it's just a changeable number in the coding, you can change it to 130 or maybe even lower and the game works just as well, so ♥♥♥♥ whoever made that decision and didn't let me make my Master arisen and Apprentice pawn, ♥♥♥♥ you with a red hot barbed pole!

Game is abandoned, don't waste your money.

Non 100% run clocked at almost 9 hours, gameplay start kinda restricted, but get very fluid after you get some movement upgrades, history is really nice, not a lot of exposition so you need to piece things together yourself, and even then a lot is left a mistery, which is not a bad thing in my opinion

if you played the first axion verge, the melee focused combat will feel kinda strange at the start, but it gets really fun around the mid point of the game, game has a lot of places to visit and there is enough choice for you to get side tracked.

i will give it a 8/10 - not amazing, but really, really good.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing, the gameplay is on point, the minigames are fun, the characters are very distinct from each other, the items are all super useful.

This is a work of passion, and it's completely free, 10/10

Game was already not the best in the market, as greedy as capcom trying to sell both characters and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ color palletes.
Back in 2013 they censored some characters, and now they censored even more, including things outside of the game like the artbook.
Then called their own playerbase "dirty socks"

Yeah, never gonna buy anything else from Hidden Variable or Autumn Games, i advise you to do the same.

Freedom Planet 2 is a turbo version of Freedom Planet 1, with almost all parts of it being tuned up to be even better than the first one.

While in the first game you would choose between Lilac and Carol (with Milla being a bonus character unlocked later on), here you have the option of the first three character plus Neera, one of the antagonists turned hero in this one.
Not only that but the moveset for all characters were overhauled and added to, giving you way more tools to glide, fight and explore the stages, both at your own pace and on breakneck speedrunning speeds.
The game plays really fluid and i had no problems at all on that department, the game does ask focus of the player and don't hold your hand at all in any way, if you don't up your own game, you gonna have trouble, even more so on bosses where they can very well drain your entire life bar in seconds if you don't focus.
There are some hiccups here and there but they in no way get in front of the fun so i would give it a 9/10.

Stage wise the game has more or less 30 stages i think, it's not a giant game, but it gives you enough content to deal with to not feel short, and that is not adding in the the campaigns of all 4 characters, since they all play different enough that you will have different problems to solve with each one. While i just finished the game i really want to get on the other characters to play through all the stages again from their perspectives, 10/10.

Music is a blast just like the first one, even more so in some places, it's as close to perfection as i think a human made work can be, props to the musicians and sound design guys, they did one hell of a job here! 10/10!

graphics are also amazing, everything is conveyed really well and danger is really easy to spot. Though the danger sign for projectiles outside of the screen does feel like a place holder and breaks alway from the game overall aesthetic, hope they fix that. 8/10.

Now, story... that's where i think this game kinda fails, HARD.
first, from a gameplay perspective, forcing people to play the game in story mode first before giving them the option to play classic mode (a mode more akin to old games where you just go from stage to stage without cutscenes or anything) is a step back from FP1, it reeks of writers throwing a hissy fit at the though that someone might not care about their work, and forcing them to it as an act of rebelion.
Now, if the story was at least on par with the first game, where it was not good, but did things interestingly enough, i think it would be ok to suffer through it once, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FP2 story drops the ball way too many times to be passable.
The main villain is a walking cliché of rebel without a cause and the writers trying to much at making you want to like her, most actions of Merga in the game comes off as a child throwing a tantrum, and basically boils down to "bad people did bad things so i will destroy the world, even tho the bad people don't even exist anymore".
Then you have the plot points that only serve to futher themselves instead of fleshing up the world, and to be honest, just feels like the writers are spending way too much time on twitter.
At no point in the first or second game we see any sign of slavery, yet somehow the story talk about it as if it was the most important part of the entire history of the world, the first game makes no distinction between dragon races, but now they have to because they need to push the story forward.
In the first game we had a completely ruthless warlord that would get things done and had no time for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, here we have a child-like snowflake taking her problems on the rest of the world because it hurt her feefees.
And again, the story would have zero importance... IF they didn't held classic mode hostage so people would be forced to play through it.
Galaxy Trail dropped the ball HARD here, there are some funny conversations and cool secondary characters in it, so it's not all lost, but still a 4/10.

So yeah, gameplay, amazing, sound/music, amazing, graphics also amazing, if you can suffer through the garbage story, go for it, i hope they just give us the option to start on classic mode from the get go.
all in all, i will still give the game a 8/10, would be a 9/10 if it didn't had any story/if you're playing through classic mode.
