You can craft everything you need. The only reason to ever spend money on this is to buy clothes and accessories. Only downsides is that signs of it being a phone game are everywhere. No options menu, and if you have never played a computer game before, then the mouse and keyboard controls will take getting used to. Mining can be a bit slow, since its only one at a time, but you can kind of queue up the next block while doing one already. Biggest problem has to be the sound of mining a block can be grating on the ears. I think the only thing you have to purchase is additional rooms to build in, which I dont really care for, as I just want to build my own house, and then play other peoples levels.

Avoid this game if:
-You're impatient
-Never played with a keyboard before
-You need a plot to keep playing a game
-You demand a free online game to handfeed you everything you've ever wanted with nothing in return

Give this game a try if:
-You enjoy crafting
-You enjoy seeing other peoples creations
-You need a simple hobby
-You enjoy collecting

Just a warning, if you are easily suckered into buying inapps (I know I usually am) then be careful, as this games inapps are really cheap, and cost effective. And always appear as an attractive option. The only thing keeping me from buying stuff is that there would be nothing left to do once Ive got everything easily and built my house.

And if you are looking for a game somewhat similar to this, but want more action and combat, Trove is a really good alternative, just be warned, that one is still early access (might not be on steam anymore either)

Reasons to play warframe;
-To feel like an awesome ninja
-To feel like an awesome robot
-To feel like an awesome martial artist
-To feel like an awesome marksman
-To feel like an awesome archer
-To feel like an awesome swordsman
-To feel like an awesome mercenary
-To drown in content updates

Pretty sure the dev team has ADHD or something, my goodness, they cant sit still for a minute. Most companies are down for sitting around on their latest update like "Yeah we did a good job" Meanwhile at warframe HQ the dev team is like "DONE THIS UPDATE, GOTTA MAKE A NEW ONE, GO GO GO"

The game feels so good, plays smooth as (shaved) balls. Everything feels good to do, and even if it bugs out a bit, its generally entertaining to some degree (EG. flying off walls at hyperspeed)

Downsides? Honestly not many, Im sure computer strength can be a major issue, but its fairly good for the most part, mid grade computers should be fine at like 20 fps on reasonable settings. While it is possible to play this game free, and nearly everything is obtainable without paying (even many cosmetic stuff) It does take quite a long time. The further you get in the game and the more time you invest, the less this becomes a problem. Anyways, it is VERY easy to spend WAY too much on this game, Im sure Ive spent hundreds on this (yes yes, I feel the shame). Also, inventory slots are platinum manditory, however you can get platinum from others in game, selling recipes for stuff like formas and such. You will need inventory slots if you want to have more than a small handful of warframes at your disposal at one time, or weaponry.

Long story short, lots of fun, watch your wallet, its tempting, so so tempting.

Its a PvP fighter game with slow clunky combat. Kinda falls on its face right out of the gate. I will say the character designs are kinda cool in a sort of "dont give a fk we make what we wanna make" kinda style. Some would say a pimp monk would be disrespectful or racist. And it probably is. But its still kinda cool. But the combat in fighters is usually aimed around feel good, empowering abilities and combos, paired with smooth tight controls, with snappy animations. This fails on all of those points.

IGM was certainly right in saying "Not Your Average Beat Em Up"

Early Access Review
This game is HUGE. Massive. The first game to really drop me on an untammed planet and just tell me "Hey, heres some crap you can do, now go do crap." I feel incredibly unrestricted. This game has already more than impressed me, and I havent even managed to do ANYTHING noteworthy. Feels like the beginning of minecraft all over again; So impressed with my dirt box mudhut that I forget how awful I am and truly just enjoy the exploration.

Surviving isnt exactly hard. The enemies dont exactly come searching you out, and running from most the land monsters is fairly easy... Until you piss off something bigger than you. But you learn to only make that mistake once or twice. You learn very quickly how you SHOULD act to survive. Taking damage is always very serious, and ranged weapons become your new best friend, despite how much fun I would have running around and cutting things to bits with a sick sword, the game gives me a good realistic slap in the face to remind me that these creatures are fundementally stronger than me, and will kill me in a simple swordfight through outright hurting more. Guns and bows give you the good range to distance yourself enough to have a fighting chance, and you can switch to a melee weapon to do more damage when they get there. (Though usually I panic and just jump around like an idiot still trying to shoot them)

Building a camp isnt entirely manditory during the early parts of the game. Most of your time is spent running around and exploring. I love that. The game doesnt try to chain you down to a spot, and really enforces the idea of going and exploring. They give you scanners, and maps to help you find your way back, so getting lost isnt a huge worry either, the map has landmarks you can fast travel to and find your footing from there. And the scanner helps you find veins of ore to dig to, so you dont have to search forever to find ore, and then huddle around it thinking its the only one you'll ever find. Even still you can mark locations on your map to remind you where it is. Now you dont HAVE to explore, and it is definitely possible to hide in a small radius, but the game gives you plenty of incentive, and doesnt punish you at all for doing so. Its really all about how you want to play the game.

The building system is really cool. It is flawed in places for now, I do feel a bit restricted as I havent found a way to make rigid edges and square corners (However I could have missed that part in the tutorial, which is screens of text with pictures, kind of a scary sight for gamers these days as it has been established that reading is the bane of our existence). That said, it is a sort of lego system, but you can build weapons, shields, guns, vehicles, etc. Though Ive noticed building something cool, like a Katana for example, is somewhat punished because I could never make it as strong as any premade weapon. Same with shields. I did for a while favor the weaker weapon due to the bond I had with it, crying at enemies asking them to die faster because it looked cool (It didnt work :'< ). In addition, I wish there were some premade vehicles that I could just use until I get the hang of creating my own, while it does make sense for my first vehicle to be a piece of crap that looks like it has less thought put into it than a dune buggy (Basically just a frame since I kept dying in game while using the build menu). All in all the building is a cool idea, and could be better with just a few tweaks here and there. Importing models made from others online would also be INCREDIBLY cool. For example, someone could make themselves some halo vehicles, or a ferarri and share it with friends online.

This game is just straight up one of the best sanbox games so far. The only thing they are missing are all the people on the sidewalks in GTA or Saints Row to run over and giggle while they go "thumbapdubabubadump" off the hood of your car. Definite reccoment, as it sits right now, its a 3.5/5 game, but thats as its incomplete form, I can forsee a 4.5 or 5/5 in the future if they keep going at this rate. Cant wait for the planned Mod Support, as you may be able to tell from my icon, I would adore some... Racial mods :3
