Update: been dumping some more hours into the co-op. It’s pretty fun really once you get into it. I still have my qualms about the story b wing so short and dry, but overall the game has grown on me and I think if you can find some buddies to play with in the co-op mode it’s even better (i’m so lonely >< ). I’d tentatively recommend it now if you’re OK with the story mode being short but the co-op being pretty entertaining for a while (I’m not sure how it gets super late game as I haven’t unlocked everything yet). Leaving my original review below for contrast.

I REALLY wanted to like this game. But at the end of the day I just can’t recommend it. Finished the main story in under 10 hours. Story was pretty mundane, dry dialog with little personality behind the characters. Yes I know that’s an ultra marine thing with being stoic and duty bound, but it just makes for an uninteresting story that doesn’t really grip you.

The combat is mostly fine. The guns are cool and fun to use but melee can get pretty frustrating. But there’s basically no consequence to dying. You go into a bleed out state and then one of your teammates comes to pick you up and you keep on trucking along.

After the story your gameplay options are a mission based coop with classes or PvP. The coop is just a worse version of Darktide. Again, no real penalty for falling in battle and not super challenging. It also suffers the same issue I have with Vermintide where two people can’t play the same class. I haven’t bothered with the PvP cause I’m just not interested in a class based 3rd person competitive shooter.

The visuals are by far the best part. The game looks amazing. The levels are cool and the entire 40k aesthetic is just cool.

So unfortunately I can’t really recommend this one. The story is too short and shallow and coop just isn’t as good as Darktide.

As everyone else says, the UI is freaking terrible. But Imma add on, the textures in the new engine are the WORST. constantly blurring out. overall it just looks awful. they for sure ruined the game with this update

UPDATE: the guns are ♥♥♥♥ now too. I was *literally* 5 feet from a guy. I'm using a crossbow with shot bolts. I shoot it right at him, you can SEE the black smoke directly on his chest. 0 damage.

Ridiculously long load screens. Disconnects, then sit for 5+ mins waiting to reconnect. Maybe I'll revisit this game down the road but at the moment this isn't even ready for an official release. Refund requested cause I can't even play.

Changing my review to positive. It's been a while since I've played and it seems they have fixed all the crashing issues I was having, along with having better optimization. Game is still fun and feels more balanced than it used to.

So if you're like me, and you watch the trailer vidoes and think "wow, that's a really fun looking game" you'd be correct. But, if you're also like me and think it'll be as easy as it looks, you're so so wrong. This game is extremely difficult. There will be frustration involved in getting the hang of it. Lots of walls hit, spinning out and going the wrong way. But it's worth it, because this is a fantastic game.

How could I not recommend this game? It's probably one of the best fighers I've played. Lots of awesome combos, a plethora of really cool special moves that doesn't require you to give yourself arthritis to pull off, a fresh and attractive art style, and boobs. lots and lots of boobs.

So me and my wife have put a little bit of time into this game. At first I was pretty skeptical, considering I absolutely hated the Left 4 Dead series. I'm just generally not a huge fan of the zombie genre (it's overdone imo). But Contagion feels different. You, as the player, are more involved. We've really only played the Escape game mode, which for just the two of us is great. And it seems a lot of the maps have randomly generated objectives when you play them. Like some times a door may be blocked, but the next play through you can go through it and explore a different path to escape the map. It makes replaying maps more enjoyable.

When you die, you become a zombie. It'd say it's more fun on a public server with multiple players, but in a 2-player co-op setting, it's not that fun. But I can see the effects it would have on a 6+ player server.

All in all, it's a pretty decent game.

An interesting take on a MOBA style game. Take LoL or DOTA and make it a 2d platformer with cartoon style graphics. The gameplay is pretty fun with some interesting characters. The matchmaking seems pretty lackluster and I don't see it being as competative as other MOBAs. But it's definitly something fun to play around with casually.

I'm probably going to have to uninstall this game. I've NEVER been a strategy game player. But Civ 5....I can't get off it. The game is GREAT. With so much to do and so many ways to win, I can't imagine getting bored with this anytime soon.

I never got much into the old Tomb Raider games. But this one? This one is fantastic. The graphics are amazing, even on lower settings on my laptop. The gameplay is really solid. And it's a lot of fun. Definitely recommend picking this one up.
