the game, story, visuals, are very, very good, however one think to keep in mind is that I dont think combat will click with everyone

this is not Helldivers 2, this is not remnant 2 in terms on combat
and unlike HD2 there's not much replayability

I finished the campaign in the veteran difficulty which is the third out 4, which would normally make it the hard one, but in this case is the one devs intented you to play as stated on the difficulty slider

You will feel very weak at the beginning of the game while you accommodate to the mechanics, any enemy can kill you in this game, they all do a lot of damage (specially ranged ones), and you will NEED to learn how to parry, dodge, use melee combos and know where and what weapons are the most effective

If you pass through that learning curve at the start, you will enjoy the rest of the game, keep in mind that in operations (the pve mode) you will have different classes to use and get more enjoyment out of the combat, shame the weapon selection in the campaign

I dare to say this is the best porn game on steam and a its a very good metroidvania
the difficulty is nothing very challenging both for combat and platforming, you do solid damage to enemies with your main melee attack or could use your secondary which is not as strong but you can find a item to improve it as passive making it almost as strong as the melee option (as long as you upgrade your character constantly through quests of course)

Which is something you want to be doing to unlock H scenes and is simple enough were most of them you can do by simply exploring with a few exceptions

Game has plenty of bosses and minibosses and while they are mostly on the easy side where you can easily kill them first try they are animated beatifully

only cons
- the map is somewhat difficult to read and you will be lost from time to time (wish you could leave pins for specific locations where you need to comeback
- sometimes the game bugs and wont show dialog
- sometimes the game bugs and I would need to restart to be able to use the combat roll again
- the last mission on the game is impossible to do since the item necessary is not showing currently

devs are already dropping bug fixes so with the exception of the map, they are likely to be fixed

power shut off while i was farming co op at the start of the game, really annoying but ok whatever I was playing a mage

but just now power went off in my building and again, corrupted save right after beating the boss in the burning village, i understand these are different games and engines, BUT NEVER had the same issue with any other soulslike

dont buy it, youre playing on borrowed time

another game that gave a early release date and was incredible unprepared, nothing new here
funnily enough this date was moved to ensure a "smooth release"

game deserves all bad reviews because this access was not free and people paid for it

tldr
1. HUGE WARNING FOR EPILEPSY
2. Game won't launch for me until for the oculus app is open (I even get the icon that i'm playing in VR
3. Performance issues
4. gameplay and graphics are really good, if you enjoy resident evil, dead space buy it as soon as the performance is fixed

I didnt saw a warning for this in the game, nor any other review, but this game has REALLY STRONG flashing lights, on some sections, of course like any other review has posted performance is bad, im running on a 3070 and experience frame drops just ocasionally but pretty much always before a jumpscare so that spoils things

Performance issues im guessing will be solved soon and when they do will change for a positive review, simply put if you enjoy games like resident evil, dead space, and I guess to some extent silent hill, you'll enjoy the gameplay for this one which btw has incredible graphics, only ♥♥♥♥♥♥ once again by ocasional but constant stutter

As a true souls enjoyer I can outright say the game is good, even without using the difficulty settings its on the extremely easier side, but that's not bad, matter of fact this game is a perfect introduction for someone as their first souls like

additionally:
- I did not suffer any performance issues asides that some slight stuttering the first 1 or 2 minutes of gameplay
- some side quests are entertaining but keep in mind their rewards are INCREDIBLY underwhelming, a total of 1000 anima, (you can get this from fighting a few normal enemies)
- Story is eh, you will like it if you enjoy french history or recognize names involved on the french revolution
- the first 5 minutes the normal walking animation felt really clunky, thought it was an oversight but later discovered its by design since your character is an automaton, the running animation is more smooth and this game has some of the most beautiful animated attacks ever, specially for agility weapons
- enemy variety is really low, however when you consider souls like in general this is usually the case, however since all enemies are automatons they can't disguise it with different models
- once again this game is really easy even without the "easy mode" included, sadly bosses and minibosses are extremely underwhelming, (specially the last one) you will mostly encounter issues with normal mobs at the end of the game i had like more than 600 blue pellets and 150+ "Life stones"

overall a perfect souls game for people wanting to get started on this genre of games

The game itself I recommend, played it religiously when I was a kid, never expected to see a port
The good?

+Polished models
+New Portraits made by the original artist
+Chronoportador at the start of the game (previously only available through new game +)
+you can now select to turn off random encounters
+Chrono cross on PC

The bad?
+Performance (fixable through mods)
+Video quality for cinematics (fixable through mods)
+Backgrounds on the new graphics are not good in some parts of the game (devs explained the work they had to do with them)

If you are a fan looking to replay a classic, go for it, remember to download Isa FPS patch and Snooty A.I upscale on nexus mods

pretty fun game, glad it finally came to steam
