TLDR:

I cannot recommend this game because it is unfinished, hopelessly full of bugs, and feels like a corporate slap in the face. But, I won't return it because it's fun.

Negatives:

Features and game mechanics aside, this game is not finished. It's a technical mess. The game crashed three times before I managed to get into a multiplayer game. Since then I have seen several other unique ways for the game to break. Sometimes my computer blackscreens while running this game- skips the blue screen entirely and just shuts off. I have a VERY modern computer and it runs other "heavy" games with ease. This game is terribly optimized. Then there's all the "normal" bugs that I wont go into.

Performance and glitches aside, this game feels like it was hyped up and marketed for veteran players but actually built for a younger (and larger) audience. The goofy voice lines and cheerful clean faced soldiers do NOT line up with the narrative of a world at war over dwindling global resources and collapsed governments. When I play this game, I get the feeling that a fantastic team of developers was told to create a blockbuster game with as little money and resources as possible. They probably succeeded, but this game could have been so much more.

I agree with many players saying that when compared to past battlefield games, many features have been downgraded or are missing entirely. This gets a big whatever from me, because we can't have it all and I'm sure that some of these concerns will be addressed in coming updates. The devs have bigger problems to tackle first.

Positives:

The game is fun! I would have returned it, but what the heck. It's the new thing and I can play it with my friends. The core mechanics are sound and this game will only get better with time. When I play, I want to play more. What else matters?

This game is so hopelessly full of bugs its honestly incredible. I still crash mid game, see broken lobbies, or not be able to connect to servers at all every day. The maps dont play well and beyond looking pretty from far away they are devoid of all artistic style. The first five minutes of every game are full of stuttering and single digit FPS. This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

But its fun, and I still play it. It could have been so much more :(

Whats not to love about a game with new free DLC 7 years after release?

Still feels like the last couple far cry games, but not quite as magical. This feels more like an open world arcade shooter than the others did. Its very pretty and well made. If you like far cry games you'll like this too.

I came for the zombies, loved the multiplayer, and stayed for the zombies.

The attention to detail by the devs in this game on PC is impressive. (You can splitscreen across multiple monitors? Neat.)

What more could you want?
