Forced PSN account months after release (and far past the refund window).

Now that the server situation has been greatly improved I am changing my review to reflect this. I think the game is worth buying and playing right now that it is realistically playable again. I'm anticipating that the remaining bugs/issues will be fixed in time and I look forward to the future content the devs have in store for the game!

Helldivers 2 should not even be listed for sale at this point as the chance for any new purchaser of this game to play is slim to nothing.

If you have not heard, the servers are filled to max capacity and the developers did not even have the foresight to develop a proper queue-system (something that, by the way, has been a standard feature for MMORPG's for at least a decade). So what this means currently is that every time you try to launch the game you have an extremely small chance of getting to play but most likely you will end up staring at a timer that will repeatedly try to connect to the server (giving you a random and extremely small chance of getting in, again, no proper queue system).

There is also rumors that players are staying AFK when not playing so as to reserve their spot on the servers. There is currently no feature that prevents this by kicking AFK players and this exacerbates the server issues further.

Now this situation has been developing since launch along other problems and bugs such as matchmaking being broken (a fairly core feature of a live service coop game), rewards disappearing or being granted retroactively and features like unlocking strategems or ship modules being unavailable. When I first tried to play Helldivers 2 I actually had to spend hours troubleshooting in order to even get the game to start because it would black screen.

The game launched 8 February and ten days later is still not playable. There is no offline/single-player mode so there is no fallback if the servers do not work.

To put it simply: It is unacceptable to sell a product that does not work.

Fun demo. The tutorial is very light so you are left to figure out stuff on your own. Once I realized I could save cards between rounds and combine them it got a lot easier. I'm cautiously optimistic for the full game.

Having a lot of fun with this game, especially in coop, and feel like I have gotten my moneys worth. I would recommend the game as it is right now but it might become even better with future updates/patches.

I find the game difficult but fair most of the time. I also find myself continually wanting to go back to it to try to get further.

I was initially disappointed by Anno 2205, feeling it to be a flawed successor to Anno 2070 and in many ways a worse game overall.

So what did I not like about 2205?

- Special resource requirements for expanding production facilities requiring you to-
- ....participate in conflict zones to farm them which breaks up the flow of the game.
- No procedurally generated maps hugely reduces replayability and even overall enjoyment of the game.
- No ability to directly manage your stock (taking crates of goods, putting them on your ship, sending your ship to another island). It's all abstracted into surplus or deficit now.
- Performance issues, though that was partly on me for having outdated graphics card. I still feel the game should have been optimized more.
- It was too expensive.

So I left a negative (but crude) review and moved on, not planning to pick it up and play it again. Until I did. But I am glad I did because it turns out this game is a lot more playable than I gave it credit for initially. So what made my experience so different this time?

I have grudgingly come to accept some of the aspects of this game that I don't like (special resources, conflict zones, stock abstraction), the game might have been patched/balanced to give me a more favorable impression and going into it I was prepared to play around the things I didn't like. I also remain hopeful that procedurally generated maps will be added at some point. It would make a world of a difference.

So yes, I do recommend this game. Is it worth the price? Ultimately for me it was. Even though I personally think they priced the game too high.

Intuitive controls so even someone not very good at RTS like me can play it easily. Tutorial was enough to get me started and covered most of what I needed to know. Galactic War is keeping me engaged so far. I think it will for a while as there are many different ways to play the game, especially with tech.

Runs completely fine on my PC. Hasn't crashed once. That being said I have a 2500K cpu and a GTX 980 TI gpu so that might be the reason. Also running it on W7 so maybe that is more stable.

My biggest complaint is that there doesn't seem to be procedurally generated maps in galactic war. So you end up playing the same planets over and over again. I honestly would have preferred the variety of generated maps over the balance/asthetics of premade maps.

I didn't have the original release and I paid 30$ for the Titan version. I think it was well worth the money.
