Good story, great dialogue, beautiful world with interesting stuff to do, amazing turn-based combat system, basically one of the best presentations of DnD-like mechanics on the market.

A classic RPG, with "real-time" turn-based combat. Story probably makes this among the best games of all times. If you can deal with some bugs and outdated graphics, highly recommended.

Short and well-made, with wonderful ambient music. Recommended for people who can do A LOT of reading and want to do some detective work. Narratively, this is a lot less interesting than its predecessor, since it was fairly easy to tell its theme and where it was going from the very first conversation you read. The ending also feels a lot less heavy than the previous game, as this story has a clear "villain" who can be fought, where the original game had a more ominous, depressing evil to fight.

Some quality-of-life changes since the predecessor are appreciated, but the additional global timer with the battery pushes me to read less of the text, which is a real shame. Overall recommended for the price - if you like this one, you should absolutely play the original.

Beautiful short game that hits some heavy notes. Recommended for anyone that likes slowly putting pieces together to solve some puzzles and is happy to read A LOT of text and pay attention to it. Definitely worth its low price and can run on basically anything smoothly.

Interesting game with a cool, if a bit heavy-handed, social commentary narrative. The game consists of you sifting through text conversations, articles and phone call transcripts to connect the dots and stop a terror plot.

While the reporting system is selective about what you can include in reports, it is also pretty dumb so some stuff is best left out, making the game more engaging than just "click the thing". You also need to make some decisions in real time that will impact how the story unfolds. I love the mechanic of asynchronous information between you and your suppervisor.

Overall: if you like story-oriented games and want something new and interesting, this game is worth around 10-15 bucks.

Having finished every AC game before this, I recommend AC2 and Brotherhood for the story, but Black Flag is the best by far for just STUFF to do. The story is a bit all over the place and the sections playing in modern day are boring to say the least, but the boat play is the perfect mix of realism and arcade. The ship crashes into the waves with a great feeling of force and it feels really heavy and real, but it remains easy enough to control the boat that you never feel frustrated.

Naval battles are super challenging if you're up against a couple of ships that are your level or above. The map is full of collectibles if that's your thing and otherwise it's fun to just go around and fight ships to gain resources and upgrade your ship.

Criticisms: sneaking and assassination is the exact same it has been for ages. Also, the fact that you can board ships in the middle of combat to repair yours and lower wanted level makes long pirating streaks too easy, I've never had to use the port agent to lower wanted level. Also, Kenway's Fleet is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Facebook-style minigame, recommend you just ignore it.

I would call this an experience more than a game, and not in the pretentious Dear Esther way. At no point does this 'game' think it's something better than a normal game. In fact the majority of your time with this will be looking at the basics of game design for other games.

The ending of this game will have you sit quietly in your chair for more than half an hour thinking about your life. Can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a short slice of something different.

Ever been upset after a long, frustrating day at work? Ever been salty as ♥♥♥♥ after some russians ruin your day in Dota or CS? Ever wanted to have all that stress go away in no time and have an inner peace radiate from you all day?

If yes, play this game. Reduces risk of heart disease and suicide. Be calm, listen to internet radio (one is probably available in your local language) and spend long, relaxing drives becoming a multi-million euro enterprise built from the ground up by your hard work.

More of an interactive story than a classic "game", but doesn't pretend to be more than that. While the story itself may have been told a thousand times, the writing and presentation are A+. The game is extremely good at making you think it's a horror game, all game long, making the story bits you find even more interesting. I definitely think this one's an acquired taste but I like it a lot.

TL;DR Good if you like well-told stories.

Get it if you can pick it up cheap and are in the mood for 2-3 hours of immersion.

An amazing single-player first person western shooter. I've had more fun with this game in the first 3 levels than I ever have with most games.

The gunplay is solid, allowing you to go long ranged with rifles and accurate shots, rush in berserker style with shotguns or go full rambo raining bullets onto the enemy as a dual-wielding desperado. The tech tree is divided into these three categories, each with their strengths and weaknesses. The guns sound solid, look solid and, while not being realistic, give a definite feel of playing through a western movie.

A definite positive is also the game's aesthetic. The cartoon stlye intro is nice and over the top and in general the game provides some nicely detailed locales with middling textures but a beautiful variety of colours. The lovely style with the fairly mid-range textures and details does mean it stays at a solid 60 fps on high at 1080p on a pretty mid-range card (r9 270).

The secrets are well hidden and encourage exploration of the nicely varied maps, the narration is well done and lends endearing character to the protagonist you're playing and I like the overall story-time style of the game, which will have you playing a segment for a good 10 minutes just to tell you "nope, that didn't happen".

That would be my major point of criticism for the game too. I really feel that the game too often takes away control from you to tell the story, often throwing you into QTE-ladden cutscenes. I understand this is part of the style but sometimes breaks the flow too much for me. Thankfully, these sections never last more than 10-20 seconds, allowing me to get back to headshotting countless bandits or running in and splitting them in half with th deputy sheriff's "mean-ass shotgun".

TL;DR: Highly recommended, great style, great gameplay, runs well, looks good, railroads a bit. Stupid fun and worth your money.
