A fun and free game for people to enjoy. Although matchmaking is slow nowadays and squad leader cadets dismisses you immediately when you solo queue.

This is, hands down, the best sandbox game I've ever played. Having almost any gamemode you can play around, you can backstab terrorists in TTT, making derpy animations in Sandbox, disguising as a lamp in Prop Hunt, as well as watch movies in Cinema with your friends. <3

Graphics are really good. Potato computers can run it, but there are certain maps that will likely mess it up, i.e. destructible maps/houses.

I recommend this game, and rate this 10/10.

Bought the 4-pack and I didn't have any remorse in buying it.

Please take note that I am stating out my opinions and not criticizing nor crucially comparing other games of their gameplay because they have their own differences.

First Impression
It gave me the thought of another rip-off of some cliché first-person shooter game, like Call of Duty series, etc. After more research and more watching of videos, I finally realized that it's a good game and fun to play with.

Pre-explanation
The mechanics of the game is purely realistic. These are the essentials that made the game have its realism:
  • Reload
  • Covers
  • Recoil
  • Ammo conservation
  • Teamwork
  • Situational awareness

Let me break it down to you guys:

1. Reloading

In some games, they have a certain indication that tells you how much ammo you have left, and how much magazines are there. Insurgency, however, gave up the HUD-filled screen to a minimalistic feel and of course promote the realism of the game. Counting the bullets of a magazine until you reload, or spray-and-pray to your enemies until you hear the 'click'. Either way, it's crucial to be aware, unless you want to be gunned down by 3 men.

2. Covering from fire

We all know that covering from fire has always been our habit. This game is different however. The hitboxes of each model is, I don't know how to say it, "compressed". So if a teeny-tiny part of your arm is shown from the crosshairs of your opponent, you'll likely survive, or not.

3. Weapon recoil

Each gun has different recoils. As long as you customized it right, you can aim better and gun down multiple enemies. I have no more to say in the matter, as the principle is like from other games.

4. Conserving ammunition

Running short on ammo has been our worst nightmare, especially if you still have two squads to wipe out. I like how limited the magazines of each player receives, it just adds up to the realism of the game.

5. Teamwork

Insurgency is all about teamwork, not playing solo nor becoming a hero. You have to plan strategically on how to capture the points and destroy the weapon caches of the opponent.

6. Being aware of almost any situation

This is not some game where you receive 20 bullets until you die. Two or three shots can kill you. This is the most significant part of the game, where you always have to check around corners and difficult hiding positions. Make one wrong move, and the opponents can swarm the capture point in a jiffy.

Disadvantages and downsides

One of the disadvantages I noticed the most is the optimization of the game. The specification requirements for it to work on your computer only uses medium to high spec'ed PCs. I met the minimum requirements of it, but I still play on 800x640 and put all the video settings to low. The framerate sometimes spikes up whenever player models spawn, or smoke covers a perimeter.

Some players on every server teamkills you for no reason at all.

Final verdict

The game is tough and difficult to play, unlike any other game, which is a good thing. It is challenging and very immersive.

I rate the game, 8/10.

The mechanics of the game is very good, in my opinion. Having no crosshairs on the middle of the screen, Clots grappling you, and equipping a melee weapon on your hand, just like any other game, adds up to its realistic side. The graphics are well polished and optimized for users who has medium to low spec computers.

What I like about this game as well, is the capability of playing with other friends in a 6-squad game.

When I got the game for free, I didn't realize the gameplay was really good. The mechanics are awesome and easy to master, although there are some tips and tricks that you have to gather up your sleeve in order to do One Down difficulty in Loud.

10/10 would wait for a week to download this game again and play it.

Merry Christmas!
