The Witcher 3 is by far one of the best videogames that i ever played in my life, perhaps even the best. Everything about it has quality, although it is not a perfect game. I'll start with the bigger strengths of this game: narrative and presentation. The story of the Witcher 3 is rich, immersive and with a great cast of characters, both old and new. While not mandatory, it helps if you've played the previous titles, especially The Witcher 2. And not just the main story, but also the side quests. I'm not going to say that all side quests are great, because there's definitely some generic ones, but most of them are really good, and i encourage you to explore this massive but interesting world. There's a lot of things to do, but most importantly, there's a lot of great things to do. And definitely grab the expansions, because they truly add a lot of quality content. Of the 200+ hours i put in the main game and expansions, less than 5% of them were boring, and only because i like to explore everything. This is a rare case of a true open world game with an attention to detail and design usually reserved to more linear experiences. The graphics are great and well optimized, but what i truly loved was the soundtrack, especially while i was just exploring. The motion capture and voice acting are also well done. Now i’m going to talk about the weakest aspect of this game: the combat. The combat is good, but feels a bit stiff. Some elements were simplified, for me in a good way, but the combat is a bit easy and repetitive. Sure, there are plenty of ways to kill your foes, but even on the hardest difficulty, the combat is a bit simplistic. This is for me the biggest flaw in this game, but thankfully the developers acknowledged that, because in the expansions there are great bosses that require more strategy and diversity of tactics. It just sucks that the base game combat isn't as good as in the expansions. This game, especially the Game of the Year version, is essential to play if you can. One of the best values out there, and one of the easiest recommendations that i can make. Period.
