I have not played long on Trainz 12, but have previous versions of the game aswell. This game has it's pro's and con's, but for a modern train simulator it is probably the best at the moment. It is surely going to get alot better when there new version from Kickstarter starts to come into the mix.

Graphics wise i have to say i was fairly dissapointed, as i can run this on full settings and still not get anywhere near the quality shown in the videos and screenshots shown above. The world looks fairly bland and the cabs look flat and undetailed compared to Train Simulator 2014.

But, and there is a big But!,

Gameplay wise it does what is says. it is a Train game for Train people, it also adds a more arcade feel to the mix so new train simmers can find this game immersive without reading 5 manuals to get started. Unlike Train Simulator there are a wealth of free content from Trains, Routes, Scenery, Scenario's etc to download for free. And its all managed by a proper installer so you do not run into problems.

The company seems more customer focused, there is little in the way of overpriced DLC. And the payware DLC available is reasonably priced.

I have had to contact there customer service for a few issue's and they replied and sorted my problem out within a few hours, so i can say they do communicate with there customers in a positive way.

Trainz is miles ahead of the current competition, and once the graphics are sorted ( in the pipeline ). They will have one of the best simulation games on the market.

Pro's: Vast library of free content, Good Customer Service, Realistic DLC prices, Easy to install mods, Currently the most stable game for the genre. Backwards compatibility for old content

Con's: The graphics need to be improved

Been a big fan of the first game i was looking forward to getting this game soooo much. I just hoped it lived upto expectation, and it did more than that!. This is a great peice of work, not only for action, but for strategy and stealth. Dare i say it aswell i never enjoyed killing the enemy so much!.

All in all this game is immersive and addictive, the creators need to be commended for making one of the best ww2 shooters to date. This is one of those must own games for your Steam Library.

Where to start!,

if you thought EA was bad then this company and game makes them look good. For starters the game is so unpredictable, one minute the game is fine the next it is suffering random crashes. The amount of bugs and glitches in the game, you would think that you was playing a very early alpha release. The company prides itself on been the best Train SImulator, which is not true in some respects but there is not much competition out there to rival the fact.

As you start to play the game its fairly good and has a fresh approach to the genre, although as you start to immerse yourself into the game and the community things start to change. This is a game which is very moddable, where users can create things and share there creations with the community. But there seems to be a trend where every modder wants to charge you for there work. Unlike Skyrim, GTA iv etc where the user content is varied and free, in this game you will find a lot of greed where people only do it to get money. So it is a very money orientated game. Even the freeware site that provides free content is subscription based, although you can download for free if you want to wait an hour in a que.

It is this greed factor that contributes to the feeling of contempt every time you start the game, immediately faced with promotions to buy overpriced DLC that has bugs or does not work. You will also in time have to contact support as this is inevitable, everyone I have spoke to has done this. And you get an automated response, one of which outlines how there not that bothered.

If you are planning on doing some freeware projects for this game like I have done in the past, I would advice against it. As you will be faced with a barage of hate from a majority of the community. In short the game is just bad in game as well as out of it. The only major freeware project was the ecml, and the creator was abused on so many levels. So there idea of creating content was for me a big no, and one of the reasons why I stopped developing.

This is one game you should avoid at all costs, not only for your sanity but also for your wallet. If Steam has any credibility in protecting it's customers then it would be in there best interest to remove this game from there store.

Overall has potential, but the greed, bad customer service, bugs and glitches and a majority of the community let's it down.

As a side note to show you what you can get for the same price as there DLC's including 3rd party DLC'S ( comparisons current from date of this review ):

A second hand Rolex Watch

LG 60" HD TV + XBOX One + Playstation 4

Top of the range Alienware Desktop Pc

150+ Full priced Steam Games

and if your a train fan, 6 Luxury Train Holidays in the UK.

Quick Edit: This company have changed there name to Dovetail and have appointed a new executive from EA, says it all really. And to top things off this company have tried to hide negative comments by marking them as ' off topic '. Shows how much they do not want you to hear the negative side of things. Every game gets negatives but thats part and parcel of games, but i have not seen other companys trying to ignore customer feedback on Steam as much as these.
