Simply amazing. I was already a huge fan of the original game, but to finally play this mod after years of waiting was a truly incredible and surprisingly "fresh" experience.

Level design is vastly improved, along with lighting, textures, and overall gameplay. It really is an enhanced version of the original Deus Ex. Plenty of new content, but plenty of familiar content too. I have to commend the new soundtrack as well. It managed to find a perfect balance between the old music and something new and exciting.

The only issues I currently have with Revision is the lack of HD character models. While the HDTP models mostly look great, they haven't even covered half the character models in the game. So quite often you'll see low poly original models mixed with new hi-res ones. It's a little immersion breaking, but not too serious. Also, we need a better model for the Stealth pistol, the HDTP version is so bleaaahhh. The fact that I specifically stated that should be enough to show how disgusted I am with it :P

Revision is an amazing mod for an already amazing game, so I highly suggest playing it whether you're new to Deus Ex or a die hard veteran!

Existing levels are either extended, or completely remade. Hell's Kitchen is a good example of extending the level and Paris is a good example of completely re-designing the level. Hell's Kitchen now has the original map with an extension roughly doubling its size. Paris has a new more vibrant theme and a more realistic layout for the streets/shops. I remember the original was very drab looking and far too big.

Could you please explain how the level design is improved in depth? The textures and gameplay are part of New Vision and Human Renovation respectively.

Anytime! And hope your graphics card isn't dead for too long :)

Great then. Thanks for the info. Since my graphic card is being repaired, this is the best option for me. :)

The key differences between this mod and the original are the textures, lighting and level design. Some levels are much bigger with more areas to explore but nothing extra in terms of quests or characters to meet. You can also select the vanilla character models and original game soundtrack if you want. The tweaks made to gameplay can also be turned off.

I would suggest playing this version simply because it looks better, supports higher resolutions, and feels more complete than the original.

Thanks for the review Jonex. Question: I love Deus Ex and I should have played the original before but sadly I haven't . Do you recommend playing the original first or is mod fine as it is?
