Excellent game, a master class in how to do a remake.

Excellent graphics, nice reworking of the map and puzzles, great atmosphere (especially if you turn on the classic sound track, the glorious nostalgia), almost everything is great.

I really liked the extra character given to Marvin and Kendo.

The only big problem I have is the story inconsistencies. They started out doing two different scenarios an A and B, they are fairly different, then once you get past the police station the devs like gave up on the idea of A/B and the scenarios blend and there aren't really any differences, other than the final boss on B. For example you fight William (under the police station, in the sewers rescuing their respective side characters, and the lab) the same place and way both A and B, as if the other character didn't encounter the same fight and with the heavy damage to the surroundings just reset, and then Annette dies in two different places. The only different boss you'll face is each characters respective final bosses (minus the B train final).
I guess Leon and Claire enter into parallel dimensions at some point, or Annette fakes her death once to meet the other character and Umbrella has some magical construction tech that rebuilds the surroundings while William goes into remission on his mutations for a few minutes. It's been awhile since I played the original, so I suppose I could be misremembering, but I remember there being more of a difference between scenarios, with there even being a bit of a difference in each character's story depending on if you played them A/B (Claire A and Leon B general being recognized as cannon). The story inconsistencies are the only major problem with the game and all they really do is break immersion for a minute.

Also, unlike the original, there is no cut scene/explanation for why the helicopter crashes, it just does, same with the arrival of Mr.X, he just shows up (no pod drop). His constant stalking of you (instead of scripted arrivals) is great, that stomping getting closer sends my heart rate up real quick. Makes me excited for a RE3 remake, Nemesis is gonna be even more terrifying if he's given the same treatment.

I'm also little disappointed that Claire and Leon only really interact at the beginning and end, not several times throughout like the original.

Overall excellent game despite my, in grand scheme, minor gripes (all things that could be fixed easily by patch or mod) everything else about it is great.

Fantastic job remaking one of my favorite games Capcom.

If you enjoy strategy this is the game for you. It's like a combo of Civilization and Risk, but with much more depth than the two. It's time line spans the European colonial era (1444-1821), with the ability to pick from any country (not just European) that existed during this timeline and guide it through the ages. It has improved a lot from its predecessor in most areas, and Paradox constantly updates it. It's also a great intro into complex strategy; it's much much more complex than others (such as Civ), how ever as complex/in depth strategy goes it's not that bad (at least compared to Paradox's other well known games such as Victoria or Hearts of Iron). No strategy-gamer's library is complete with out it.

A great intro to strategy gaming; has some depth but not to overly complex.
