the guy who guys by "comminism! rising" and did the apr 6 review couldnt have said it better. i only wished id read that far down in the reviews before jumping at the sight of the game going on sale and buying it too soon... i even agree with the part about the game has the potential to get to a pretty decent place (one where they would maybe be able to sustain an actual mp commuunity, something that seems harder and harder by the week in the current game market). My biggest problem, or at least the current one, was after watching several video reviews praising the gameplay, graphics, and feel of moving the islands around, all while calling it an RTS, and then i booted the game up and there a greyed out multiplayer box and no campaign whatsoever, also a greyed out "coming soon dwarven race". i understand early access is going to mean games have bugs to solve, and many times even content to add. but something just felt so off right from that moment, and it wasnt something i felt anyone had really shone a light on. i suppose people are getting excited for what they hope the game will be, i just dont know how far off things like a legitimate full campagin are, and if they will even be well made rts campaigns. for me there was an empty feeling of pointlessness from the get go, but to be fair i will say i dont think i have ever been the type of person to boot up a strategy game and go customize a bunch of map settings for a go at some (usually, and from what i read definitely with this game) fake AI bot thats resource consumption feels so much like its being handed over by the computer vs it having to go harvest like the player does. maybe the ai does really harvest and thats the real aount of resources they have, but that would be incredibly surprising giving the other huge shortcoming of this game. there are something like 8-10 entirely different resources, and actually a few more when you throw in mana and other limited cast abilities. this would be the equivalent of starcraft or c&c adding in 5 different types of resource to collect, each requiring their own building to collect them and workers to work them. its just not remotely fun dealing with resources in that tediuos manner, it seems they were going for this balance that they are constantly stressing which is that you cant just go cast every island and drag it right next to yours because your upkeep (ugh basically another resource) goes up exponentially w each new island you plop next to your own.
shoot i didnt mean for this review to come off so negative, as i shut the game down i was really trying to convince myself "if they just did this.... the game could be really good" but the more i think about it, i am pretty sure this was released into early access to early, and i dont think it will have a chance to ever build up a really strong multiplayer community so you end up with some pretty graphics but a game that is frustrating on so many levels. the final flaw to me, the one where i click exit to desktop, i got attacked, probably 30 minutes or so into my playtime, by my only possible enemy goofy rts bot ai, and all i wanted to do was get my fighers to head over and push this attaack back.... to my surprise that was not even close to happening, as you cant actually control your peoplein this game. you can only click on pieces of land where some little icons come up and you can clickl an attack suggestion button that supposedly rallies your armies, or at least the very limited artifical intelligence of your own troops are then left to decide if they want to listen to to any commands you give, and there is an option to sweeten the pot by double (its 10 gold to make a command, or you can make it 20 and thats supposed to make them want to help you more, i believe u could theorietically keep raising the number you pay, i just didnt get to test how effective it actually was because i was trying to loate my troops as i was losing so much to this one flying creature i should have easily been able to deal with considering the size of my forces at the time. so i read more reviews and got into the discussions section and even read one of the few guides here on steam after my sour experience... apparently there is a game called majesty that uses control of secondary units in a similar way. It was definitely not for me, and i would have loved for there to be some kind of description to let people know this game controls nothing like so many rts games that havecome before it from dune 2 to CnC, sc2, wc, ashes, northguard, they are billions, syria, just to name a few (it is by far my favorite genre, which made this all the more frustrating to find not find out there wasnt a selects and move unit function until i had created my first few soliders. something similar to how XCOM 2 lets you know it is a turn based strategy game. i dunno hopefully this is helpful for someone out there, i think this game may actually be a bit of fun for maybe a huge fan of majesty, of course even that factor still relies heavily on them coming out w an interesting campain or maybe a dcent multiplayer mode. i just dont want to come off as knocking something just to knock it, and i would much rather a dev to feel like there was some kind of constructive criticism in here not just ranting against their product. i know for me personally, if they could figure out how to implement tight unit control and literally just wipe about half to 75% of the resources from the game id be willing to give it muuch more in depth shot. as the game standts i can only say i wish there was a lot more emphasis on this game being something very different thanso manyl of the great rts games that have come before it. i dont know if it would be helpful at all or not but the game that kept popping into my head over and over was vanguard. the viking rts where you used to only be able to tell your units what little patch of conquered terriroty theritorry they could run into but not specifically where they could og in it. now it is a full featured rts and suuuch a better game for it! anyway sorry for the rambling just hopin to give a diff perspective in case anyone is havin trouble deiciding if its the right product for them!

dont write to many reviews but the dev seems like hes bustin his arse to make the community happy on warcube, im still a huge friggen nublet, dont really understand what the game is about yet (it almost seems there is a sort of warband type map system where u visit diff levels? and possibly even other troops u get to control?) anyway i had a blast so far on the first level just the attack sytem is so much fun. like if a pregnant angry bird had an abortion but the operation failed and the surviving critter went on to make a better game!

TL;dr I friggen looove this game, constantly comin back to it and having a blast while playing it, althought im sure i look absolutely goofy as hell cuz for some reason i like to throw myself sideways across the map vs the forward run motion:) i dont think its necessary at all to enjoy this game but i am also a huge fan of climbey, these are probably my 2 favorite vr experiences. i bring it up because climbey was one of my 1st purchases and i would dream of having a couple machine guns to gun my buddies down while climbin and bouncing all over the place, and i think this is as close as we are gonna get!

this was initially going to be my response to gamecookers question in the community hub bout the last update and if the game is any fun, and halfway through i realized i was basically giving my review of the game so i cut and paste it over here. sorry for the crappy formatting i never think to do these but with vr it seems more important to fill the community in with lots a crappola out there! So glad they came out w the demo because after getting burned by so many tech demos and wave shooters i wanted to buy this but the 2 things holding me back were the game seemed dead (november) and i didnt understand if it was really a bit like climbey locomotion with guns, even tho some of the youtube vids looked like that. and honestly this has become right up there w my absolute favorite vr games to come back to. The best way to describe it would be like a more action packed onward with less downtime, throw in a little counterstrike (buying loadout) and a bit of climbey type locomation, climbing around the level with guns and it just doesnt get any better! also due to christmas and the demo release the game seems to be growing more and more by the day and i definitely dont see the momentum going down anytime soon... this is getting updated by the week, and not pointless crappy updates. very core gameplay tweaks the community wants coupled with the occasional surprise like a new maps or when necessary bug fixes/game balancing. with this last update the devs even threw in a basketball court and ball to mess around with in between the match for people who joined the server ha.
