Early Access Review
Easily the best survival game I’ve ever played. When I’m not playing it, it’s all I think about.

Take Half Life (Black Mesa / Aperture science) and add crafting/base building.

A joy to play, a fun universe to explore. The team have absolutely crushed the ambience of this game.

I utterly adored the ideas that this game presented. It felt like a game very much made around all of my interests.

I started playing on game pass, got near the end and it came off game pass and yet I started again on Steam. Which I never do.

Each “book” introduces you to a unique world I’d play outside of the game. The POV of the character/world and stories are captivating.

Taking what only games can do and focusing on literature as the vehicle for it’s mechanics, it’s incredibly clever.

This feels like a great start to (what I’d hope) is a franchise as there’s legs here for more in this universe. If you love stories. Play this game.

Another game I wish there was a 'maybe' option for endorsing a title. This game feels like it wants to waste your time at numerous moments. Where it's not fun to do the daily grind of tasks with very little pay off.

The base building is a lot of fun and the constant reminder of building a rocket is a really nice piece of progression system. I can't say the journey was worth it based on the final moments.

The game requires a LOT of QOL features the devs dont appear interested in offering. If you wanted a MUCH slower fallout shelter. Give this a try. If you hate the idea of repetitve tasks with little pay off, give it a skip.

Unlike Lightfall, you can tell this time they actually tried.

Loved this. Character focused. Challenging game play. Lots of build diversity possibilities. Lets see how the universe devolves after such a gigantic leap.

The only AAA game without brain worm design rot.

I'll caveat this review by stating I'm reviewing this for the campaign as a lover of the story/universe and not the Raid coming next week.

D2 is 'my game', I'm obsessed with it's universe and it's characters. The gameplay is second to none and my negative review is not relating to any of the gameplay. The gunplay was nailed at the start of D2 and still 'feels' better than most shooters.

LightFall fails on its promise of this being the penultimate story of an 8/9 year story they've been telling. Marketed by the developers as 'Our Infinity War'. With the last 2 years spent bringing former enemies to allies, revealing the big bad and finally being on our doorstep expectations were high.

Only for the most dramatic moments in the trailer above taking place in the first 10 minutes and the final 10 being a narratively confused let down. Destiny has arguably some of the most interesting characters/worlds to play with stuck within a business decision to give each area 1 shot of character/world as development as a nod to fans of those characters. Ideas presented in past expansions (The Dark Vanguard) were left behind to introduce new species and return of old villains when our current cast list of villains is extensive.

Narratively Destiny 2 has a universe ripe with play and opportunity. The work they've done in the past 2 years has been a credit to their newly expanded narrative team but this fell totally flat. Our season ended referring to the 'Expansive neon city' that in the expansion, is dead. The Traveller left us which by the end of this campaign feels like little has changed despite the 'universe changing' messaging.

Perhaps the model is to sell a grand idea, see the response and fix it in the seasons. With Sony's purchase, they plan on developing TV shows and more. Perhaps then our story woes of interesting characters shackled by Bungies model will end.

Lovely game. Bad Business practises. Subscription systems are scams and money grabs. These devs are officially part of The Worst. Avoid the game if you like keeping your money.

I really wanted to love this. My dream game has always been one of expeditions, returning with artefacts and building my own museum which on paper this has. It's just all so sadly dull.

The restoration process takes very long, no way of increasing the size of your tool so you'll be dragging (with zero skill level) for a whilst. The expeditions are not very difficult and honestly felt janky (The way you assemble the crane to the hook in the tombs).

I'm not sure releasing your game in this state devs has done you any favours as it just does not feel ready and this is from someone who truly would of bought this if it were my dream game. Alas, we continue to wait until then.

I adored this. This is very much the promise of VR and the first time that's matched Alyx for me in what we want this platform to be.

Truly imaginative, so many creative puzzles and a story that keeps on giving. This is the first time I've felt like VR has had an original IP that's not been done in pancake mode. The watch alone feels like a strong character contender for the VR platform.

Alyx is a must play, as is this now. The team owe themselves a massive pat on the back and I only hope it warrants a sequel as despite all my glowing comments I found the ending lacking. Hopefully, due to a sequel being on the cards.

Please play this to support future titles of this quality.
