A jury in Ramsey County district court found Brian Kjellberg guilty of second-degree murder. Brian Kjellberg stabbed AJ Stewart in the neck with a rusty steel pipe while calling him the n-word. The incident happened over a parking dispute outside of an old fire station that was occupied by Brian Kjellberg.

Despite pleas from Stewart’s family and the community to charge Kjellberg with first degree murder and a hate crime, he was charged with second degree murder. Called a “white vigilante” by St. Paul residents and Stewart’s family, Kjellberg claimed self-defense. Today, Brian Kjellberg is a free man.
