I don't know how to express how much I like this game. There's a reason there are so many positive reviews. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but if you want a game that's ceaselessly charming, casually engaging, and provides a genuine emotional experience this will scratch that itch.
I picked it up thinking it might be nice to play over the course of an afternoon and then forget. I certainly didn't expect an interesting story, a cast of lovable characters, a ton of silly laughs, and then 5-6 different scenes that actually made me set down my controller and just cry.
If you're the type of person who's checking out the reviews for this game because the artwork caught your eye and you thought maybe it's worth looking at, you should buy it. I can't imagine you'll be anything but delighted.

Pretty fun little game. It's not easy, but it's certainly not the most difficult metroidvania I've played. I generally don't enjoy difficult games, but this was quite challenging without feeling frustrating. The dialogue is very brief, and I'm a little sad the character I was most interested in just died off screen, which was a little disappointing. I'd certainly be interested in playing a sequel or another game with a similar playstyle set in this world.

The late game grind may be pretty daunting, but every moment leading up to it is amazing. And TBH, the grind is still fun. Fruitless 99% of the time, but very fun.

So originally when I reviewed this game, I gave it a bad rating. It was unbalanced, they threw overpowered surprise encounters at you both at random and during the story, and even on Story difficulty I kept getting TPK'd. But I started a new game, gave myself a different team full of custom characters, downloaded some mods, purchased the tiefling DLC, and tried again. And it's been a blast.

It's odd, because seemingly nothing has changed since the last review, but this time around I found myself really enjoying the game. Granted, I've cheesed it a little bit this time. My main character is a rogue, so I have access to a lot of skills. I gave my human paladin an aasimar racial trait. I removed the 18 ability score cap when I made my barbarian with 22 strength. My bard is built to craft magic items (I don't think that's even possible in vanilla). Nothing disgustingly game-breaking, but somehow the game became way more fun this second time around.

Of course, I felt confident in my abilities and went to fight some of those gross matches that TPK'd me before. They were still no fun. But so far I've been able to avoid them. I have to say this game has been pretty fun, and at this point I would recommend it to fans of tabletop RPGs.

Also, load times have gotten faster. Which is super helpful when you do accidentally run into an unexpected crazy hard fight.

Really fun game for something casual, fast paced, and quick to play with a friend.
