An impressive revival of a survival-horror classic, surprisingly from EA.

I experienced performance issues that I was able to get to be a very minimal disturbance when loading into new areas but even with that. The massively improved game world, atmosphere, graphics and sound design sets a new standard for when returning to a franchise and to the survival-horror genre with all of these changes keeping the fear factor high through your whole play-through. This game without a doubt and through the performance issues (honestly small enough to be buffed out in a patch) is spectacular.

This game feels classic but fresh. It's Dead Space, top to bottom but with changes that don't remove from the original but add on to it without being unwelcomed, levels are seamless, chapters seamless, mechanics seamless. You can backtrack and explore, you have freedom to play how you want, Isaac can be calculated or you can brute force your way through the nightmare. Since Elden Ring, we don't get games that feel like this anymore. It's immersive, fresh and spectacular to see nowadays.

If you're returning to Dead Space, you'll feel right at home yet reliving the nightmare all over again 15 years later.

If you're just now trying Dead Space for the first time, you settle in immediately with the immersive world, characters and mechanics. The controls are well explained along with the mechanics and world. Turn off the lights and sink into this game world.

(There are some inclusion changes but they don't take away from the game or the original, some things you won't even notice at all no matter how many times you pass them and when you do, most likely you'll shrug it off and go back to playing)
