The PC port has released in an absolutely inexcusable state. I have crashed more times in UNI2 than a lot of low effort early access games. Frankly I think if you aren't a die hard FG fan you should probably not buy it right now. I can't blame any one for not wanting to put up with this ♥♥♥♥ right now it's insufferable. That said it's still a French Bread game so you can expect peak anime FG action if that's your thing. The GOAT of anime fighters and it's not even close imo.

***EDIT***
My original review for this game was positive but after 3 hotfixes and a still nearly unplayable PC port I'm not going to justify it anymore. Buy it on console or wait until it's on sale and actually playable like a year from now at this rate. Constant crashes to desktop, rooms closing repeatedly for no reason. Games unplayable online for me still and worse yet I've seen many reports (including my own roomate) of the game crashing even in offline modes. Can't even go into training mode without it refusing to recognize their stick or crashing to desktop. Somehow in a worse state than Type Lumina and one of the worst PC ports I've experienced in the modern era. Never had this issue with UNIEL/ST/CLR and I'm livid this has been an issue for their last 2 releases. Please get a different company to port these games in the future.

For $10 I got a game that took me 52 hours to 100%. I don't go completionist on games often, so you know it was a damn good time for me to consider doing it. One of the best RPGs I've played in a long while, and by far the best "SMT like" I've played. Better than many actual mainline SMT entries even. It's $10! Just buy it! You won't regret it!

Before anything, most of the recent reviews of the game being negative having nothing to do with the quality of the game itself, but rather content decisions surrounding it, namely censorship. You can easily find information about this with a quick google search if you'd like and form your own opinions but that's not what I'm here to talk about.

I firmly believe Skullgirls to be one of the best fighting games ever released. Though $25 might look steep for a game this old it often goes on sale for very little (I've bought and gifted probably 20+ copies of the game because it regularly drops as low as a dollar) and to this day offers one of the best experiences you can get from a fighting game. Some of the best rollback netcode on the market, an amazing art style, and 10/10 soundtrack. Not to mention the gameplay itself which is still unmatched to this day in terms of tag fighters in my opinion. A well balanced ratio system that enables 1, 2, or 3 character teams to all be viable at the highest level, fun and intuitive system mechanics, and more make this one of the most insane, chaotic, and fun fighters out there. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Or don't, I'm not your dad I don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ care.

PREFACE
I'm aware my hour count may seem very low in this game, but I am not new to this genre or even this style of game. A little over a year ago I got heavy into 4key through OSU! Mania after years of dedicating myself to Guitar/Clone Hero and deciding I wanted to try something new. In that year I managed to crack at my peak, Top 68k globally and 10k in the US (My Profile for Proof[osu.ppy.sh]). So this review comes entirely from my experience with OSU! Mania compared to this game.

TL;DR
If you have any interest in downscrolling rhythm games this is the game for you, easy and intuitive online modes, multiple ways of play (4k, 5k, 6k, 8k), all the charts seem to be VERY well done and vary widely in difficulty welcoming all skill ranges. IN MY PERSONAL OPINION this game far exceeds the quality of OSU! Mania and is an absolute no brainer, 9/10

More In-Depth Thoughts:
Though games like Clone Hero, OSU! Mania, Stepmania, and Etterna are free giving them absolutely no barrier to entry and a much wider variety of music to choose from the value of an extremely well put together premium game can't be ignored. OSU! Mania for example, the one I've far and away played the most of, has 4k/7k as officially supported ranked difficulties but they are still at the end of the day side modes to the far more popular OSU! Standard. This means it gets updated far less often and major changes to the system are rare. Which is why a decent portion of the community migrated away to Etterna. However, something like DJMAX has been worked on by the same studio for years with downscrolling being their only focus, thus the system feels and looks tighter. I've never met a person on planet earth who likes Mania's release timings on long notes. This game not only doesn't have that issue but also makes LNs more interesting by adding a second type known as Side Tracks. I personally found this quite clunky in my first hour or two and it's still 99% of the time the reason I drop an FC (or MC in this game) but the more tracks I played the more I enjoyed this addition (Try KD/A if you want a really fun example of the mechanic in action without the difficulty being so high it feels overwhelming). Changes like that as well as how much more transparent feeling the scoring system is and many other features such as the ranked 1v1 online mode and really enjoyable single player content make this game a massive value proposition for more than JUST the free play feature you get in most Rhythm Games. The biggest knock against this game compared to a free alternative is the song variety (lack of representation of certain genres like Jazz and Metal which can often be some of the most fun genres in 4k) and the fact most songs don't have every single difficulty meaning a song you really enjoy might be inaccessible due to being out of your skill range or un-fun to play for the opposite reason. The DLC is VERY expensive (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it's $127.07 ON SALE for the complete collection) but you get a pretty decent chunk of new songs with each pack so it doesn't feel as bad to buy them piece meal, and the base game (on sale for $15 as of writing this) is really jam packed with songs as is. Additionally though we might be lacking overall in genre representation the songs that are there are mostly original to this game and are all extremely well charted. Mania tended to have same-y repetitive patterns due to the way the community self regulates and standardized itself. This game isn't afraid to change up a specific pattern within the same song or experiment with more unique implementations of pre-existing patterns. Though it makes sight reading a little more difficult at my level of play it also makes tracks more fun and even makes lower difficulty content still interesting to play (again I point to KD/A and it's usage of Side Tracks to emulate the dance moves that go with the song, something Beat Saber also did with the same song). This game will for sure be my go-to for 4k gameplay for the foreseeable future if not forever, as I consider also trying to learn something like 6 or 8 key once my 15* clear rate goes from 2 to every track available in the game. Anyone with even the slightest interest in Japanese Arcade Style Rhythm games has no reason to not at least try this game, you won't be disappointed.

Closing Thoughts:
This review is longer than every other review I've ever written combined and multiplied by 2 and it's on a game I currently only have 5 hours in. If that alone isn't enough to tell you how passionate I am about it and how good this game is I'm unsure how to sell you on it. I just recently bought an XP-Pen Tablet to start learning OSU! Standard (based on Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan) and have all the sudden found myself rediscovering my love for 4k after feeling a massive burnout and planning on taking a break from it. That tablet probably won't see much use in the near future and I honestly couldn't be happier.

I feel like most people reviewing this game negatively do it entirely because they paid $8 for the base version of the game and suddenly find themselves with barely a quarter of the total roster. The reality is though, if you buy the $30 version the games "DLC DLC DLC" complaints is see so often are basically worthless. The only content you don't get with Champ Edition is the CPT DLC (of which the money paid in goes towards the Pro Circuit payouts similar to DOTA 2).

This game was a nightmare on launch but now with Champion Edition and Season 5 it's honestly a genuinely good fighting game with relatively solid, though at times shaky netcode (use an ethernet cable and it'll be stable for most of your matches in my experience). Possibly the best ranked ladder experience in any FG when it works well and the CFN web portal is an information hub unlike anything in fighting games as far as official support goes. Frame Data, Movelists and more all available officially from Capcom themselves. It's not my favorite FG, not even my favorite SF, but I think for any newbie Fighting Game players this is an excellent entry point into the genre while also still offering plenty of depth and nuance for any vets. Genuinely reccomend this game but only if you are buying CE, Vanilla SFV isn't a very good value proposition no matter the price point.

I have nearly 100 hours in this game from before the Steam version, this release is easily the definitive way to play the game as the Windows Store version was a horrendous nightmare plagued with issues upon issues. The fact I still played so much of the game should be a testament to how good it is. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, with one caveat: Please look up a community guide so you don't mess up your skill and kneecap your DPS. Other than that, enjoy!

I tried to like this game, I really did, but I just couldn't. The concept of the game is interesting using your camera flash to create platforms out of already existing platforms in order reach the next platform. It also has some interesting puzzles, and honestly I thought it was good at first. My biggest issue with this game however are the controls, and that's why I have a hard time reccomending this game. It even has a solid soundtrack, nothing revolutionary or super memorable but it wasn't bad by any means in fact the music is probably the best part of the game! However, the controls are extremely stiff and I dunno, they just feel akward to play with. In my opinion what makes a good platformer is it's controls. When a platformer has controls that make the game feel harder than it really is then in my personal opinion it's not really a good platformer... On the plus side the price tag for this game is only $2 so if you still think you want to give this game a try feel free to, it's not like you will lose out on much money!
