TL;DR: I thoroughly enjoyed this game, although not quite as much as the original Life is Strange. Would recommend this game if you were a fan of the last. If you haven't played the last game, go play that first if you're interested in this one.

Firstly, I've only played through the game once and I think I need to play it through another time to write a more competent review, but these are my thoughts so far.

DISCLAIMER: the next paragraph is about the story, I will try not to spoil much but if you're sensitive to that stuff then maybe give it a skip.

The story is good, although I don't think it's as impactful as in the original game. It was very engaging though and that got me through it. The story is mainly about the relationship between Chloe and Rachel. Yes there's some other things that come up, but they really aren't mentioned until the final episode. That's fine, and for the most part seeing the relationship develop carries you through the story. At times though it feels a little forced. And rushed. I know it's part of the story that they become close really fast, but it just feels a little bit unrealistic and it removed my suspension of disbelieve at times. At least with Max and Chloe in Life is Strange, they had history as kids so it was more believable that they quickly became friends when they met up again. That being said, if you buy eveything that happens between them in the first game, then the rest of the game does a fine job of progressing their relationship. Although, some of the dialog between Chloe and Rachel was just... cheesy, at times.

STORY DISCUSSION OVER

My main issue with the game was the dialog. It's. So. Slow. Like I said, I enjoyed the story and the actual dialog is fine, but Chloe talks like she has a speech defficiency. Seriously, she stumbles over the first 2-3 words of every sentence. Not only is it different to how she talked in Life is Strange (maybe it's a story thing like she'd gained confidence by then, I'm not sure what they were going for) but it's quite frustrating at times. In a dialog, story heavy game like this, you really don't want to be wishing you could skip lines at different points. It could also be because I had subtitles on, so I knew what she was going to say. It's not a dealbreaker though, and maybe it adds more weight to what Chloe is saying at times.

Thematically this game really impressed me. Just like the last game, the art style, the music, the camera shots all give the game a unique style. Defintely a good continuation of the previous game.

The puzzles were not very challenging. There was only about one or two an episode and they took me only a few minutes to work out. I feel the game is mainly about the story though, so that's fine with me. And they did a fine job of making me feel like I was part of the story.

The decisions in this game didn't seem to have the same impact as the decisions in the last game, but I can't really comment on this until I've played it through again. I did like how there are still actions you can take that effect the story in small ways that aren't as obvious story decisions.

Overall I'd say this game is a good addition to the Life is Strange story, and I would recommend it to anyone who played the previous game and enjoyed it. If you haven't played the previous game however, I would suggest playing that game first. It's kind of a case where some things in this game are not dealt with with the same mystery as in the next game, so it would kind of ruin that aspect to play this game first.
