I'm still in the middle of the game but after checking out the store page and seeing some misinformed reviews i decided to write it already to drop my perspective.
Combat is pretty unique with not only timeline of actions but also a lot of possible interactions to manage, using more powerful delayed attacks if you know enemies wont be able to move out of the way, delaying their turn until another character can take them down, setting up reactions and interruptions triggered by specific ally or enemy action. Every ability by itself can seem insignificant but with time and creativity allow for some strong and rewarding combos. Despite lack of healing in the game using knowledge about enemies and planning it is possible to avoid getting hit almost entirely. As a counterweight to people complaining having to constantly start anew I managed to beat 1st boss without any of these, restarted of my own will after that to see how progression works and then beat bosses 2 and 3 without restarting since, I'll try beating next one without restarting as well. Healing characters requires sacrifice of same of higher level character, however nothing stops you from instantly resurrecting sacrificed one. Someone also said fleeing the mission kills all your units participating which is not true, it only tires them and they can still be used in following days.
I believe it's worth trying out if you already bothered to read until this point, especially with how low on the price it can go during some sales, and if you're worried about difficulty level, there is more forgiving mode available.

80 hours(with doing sidequests) of gameplay for just 1st season of the story? with free dlc, and both second dlc and season in future plans? Easy worth from me. Gonna buy costumes dlc when it comes out just to support the devs.

Great adaptation.

Recently hit 300 hours, great fun with game especially after getting -rep on profile with comment "smurf" from some kids rekted in rankeds. Would watch someone leave in first 5 seconds of a match again.

2D action-based minecraft. i've played pirate version for 100 hours or more. bought original for 1.3 update. 100% worth it, would like to complete this again.
