RTS Survival
Very Similar to They Are Billions but please do not mistake it for a cheap clone.
This game has the same concept, but so much originality and charm to set it apart.
Matter of fact, despite being a fan of TAB, I would recommend Age Of Darkness OVER TAB to someone unfamiliar to the genre.

I originally purchased this game pretty close to the early access release, and my first thoughts were, " Why would I play this over TAB? " but after seeing so many updates, and an active and dedicated community, as well as the promise of Online Co-op ( coming december ) I decided to give it a fair shout. Oh goodness am I glad I did.

The Gameplay
For those that might not know, this an RTS/Survival game. Except unlike most RTS game, you can pause at any-time and take a breather to plan out your next move. I absolutely love that about this subgenre. It makes the whole experience better for me. You can carefully plan and craft your city without worrying about APM.

Now don't take the previous statement as this game is a totally chill city-builder. Battles are tense and positioning your troops thoughtfully and carefully is very important.

The basic loop is fairly simple actually. You manage 5 resources, although only 4 are really important. Gold, wood, stone, iron, and dark essence. Well, maybe 7 resources if you count population and food, but these are handled in a style not standard for rts games.

Anyways, you essentially gather resources and expand so you can make a bigger army / defenses in hopes that you will survive the Death Night. On the Death Night a dark shroud covers the unlit parts of the map, and you sit tight in your fortress hoping that they will not break through (again).

(will update again after more playtime)
