This game is all about the combat system which is unique and it has a really high skill cap.
Unfortunately this means that if you buy this game in 2020 you will probably need to spend a few hundred hours improving your skills (in duels) to be on par with average veteran players.
You can enjoy the team based matches without a lot of skill but that gets boring fast.
After almost 90 hours, I know the mechanics but I am still far from even beating gold league.

edit: after 180 hours, played lots of duels, nothing has changed
