When leaving a review, I would usually finish the game first, though this adventure I am happy to extend the journey with a lot of mini sessions in-between other games, or over my morning coffee.

FIVE-BN GAMES have entertained my puzzle brain quite often and this game is no exception.
With Lost Chronicles being a free game, it almost feels like Im stealing from them.

Graphically very beautiful with lovely dialogue and acting, though this is generally PnC based, a majority of this game utilises HOs.
Hidden Object fans this definitely WILL be for you.

Instead of happening upon the HO scene based on the story-line progress, puzzles are always available, once the area has first been accessed.

Some HOs are always free to enter, while most need specific tokens.

These tokens are mostly found as rewards in the free HO areas with some as part of other puzzles.

Even though there is an in-game purchase shop for diamonds, which can be used to get these access tokens, there is no issue earning them thru game play.

Other rewards from the HO scenes are items for the Collections tab with more received the quicker the puzzle is solved.

Collections need a combination of items to receive helpful tokens like hint magnifying glasses, skip runes etc or story-line progress puzzle pieces.

I personally can sometimes find it challenging to remember where I am in a game, or what the story was about, so the map layout, task menu and journal is very useful to me.

Mechanics of puzzles are intuitive, i.e. obvious actions self automate with one click.

There is a good amount of content in this game, with the specialised HO functionality, so waiting til I finish the game to write this review would had been a long time coming.

Just looking at the amount and type of achievements (though not Steam based Achievements), I have yet to access or attain, (e.g. getting 3-stars in one HO scene 5/5 times etc) as well as the Bonus Chapter, indicates a whole lot of game play here.

If you are looking for a HO heavy game that you can spend a good amount of time with, I recommend Lost Chronicles.

I have only played the '1000 Door" series, tho imho ALAWAR gets the PnC genre right.

Cut scenes are cinematic and beautiful.
Puzzles are intuitive, not overly difficult and the game provides options for guidance, when in need, with highlighted map areas and a strategy guide in the Menu.

The only 'downside' would be that there are no Achievements.

Overall a good game to add to ur PnC collection.

This is a perfect PnC for first timers and young ones or.
It is on the easier side.
For well versed players - this can be utilised as a wind down game.
Achievements were easily achievable.

Really enjoying this House of 1000 Doors Series.
Only downside, no quests for Achievement Hunters.

Has a strategy guide for clue reference, tho seeing as there are no Achievements, there is no loss or incentive with using or avoiding the Hint button. I used it a few times, because I wasnt going to miss an Achievement, it was way quicker than looking up the strategy guide and only hinted the direction to look towards.

Cut scenes and story line lovely as always.

Would advise to play from the first episode and work your way chronologically. The storyline development builds nicely that way.

Ooh and its on sale atm - Go on... Open a door... See where it leads you!

My first PnC without Achievements and Collections, tho they felt missing from the experience, there were a lot of other qualities to like.

If you are an Achievement hunter, this game isnt for you.
Maybe its because of the lack, that the game felt longer, it may feel a little empty with no chimes, pop-ups and seeing that badge progress, among our gamer buds.

As someone who often forgets where things are, and is constantly going back and forth, I found this format intuitive and had very little problems with the puzzles or location - so Pro PnCs may find it too easy?

The story premise is fab - it's pretty much the reason (tho I have bought them already) im off to install the next Episode - tho Im all about fantasy sci-fi.
My only criticism, is perhaps Ive been spoilt, with more cut scenes, in my very few years of gamer journey.

As for the HOGs, they have a cool variation, which I found refreshing.
Bonus chapter was a good lenth, and cleverly written, leaves me wondering what's in store next.

Fab lil adventure.
Free and takes up little disk space, so why wouldnt you?
- unless you dont want to get hooked into purchasing the next 3 eps, and then investing in a little more for the second series.
tho they are only about AU$1ea, (less if in a bundle) on sale and honestly, retail price AU$3, less than a cup of coffee, for the experience.

So for me, most def worth the Space Trip.
Who wants to be an astronaut?

Computer Spec-wise, this game will run on a potato, so gr8 for gamers with low end systems, tho by no means a low end experience.

A well crafted RPGmaker PnC, its all about finding solutions for tasks, with the lack of PnC mini puzzles replaced, in spades, with well crafted interactive dialogue.

Easy controls - dexterity challenged can play this with ease, using mouse only - especially loving that if i mis-click an area, corrections are instant, prevents sending me back and forth between rooms.

The storyline, I found fun and immersive.

- At this point of time, I have almost completed Episode 3, so cant say for sure about this first Ep. tho, definitely the next two, and find that the games are quite consistent, hence thinking it applies here too -

With the 'puzzles', story-line and character development quality never waning, i was kept interested, and, expecting it to be a short little game, it had a good length to it.
This kept me looking forward to the next Episode. as well as their comedy relief, sprinkled in the right places that the task load was steady tho managable.

Being unable to skip dialogue, after activating a conversation point with an NPC would be the only thing I found bothersome.
The game's journey makes up for the grind of cycling through the dialogue, to get back to the menu again.and clicked too fast, gotta cycle thru the dialogue, to get back to the game menu again and clicked too fast..

Fab lil adventure.

This game would be for the entry level PnC players - Despite getting caught up in the final scene, and missing the last collectable (into the 'maybe replay one day for that final achievement' folder it goes) Puzzles and Collectables were achievable.
Avoiding the Hint button for Achievements, is a bit lol, as I had the Strategy guide available, in the Menu.

The story premise was interesting, tho left me with wondering if more is to come, by the end.
As for bonus chapters, there isnt one, which perhaps makes the experience feel a little undone?

Like usual, the cut scenes are enjoyable to immerse in.

This rating would be a 'yeah hmm meh' for me.
Entry level PnC - Enjoyable casual gaming experience

However this game came my way, I am very glad I found this gem,
Without spoiling your experience, I can say that, It is an experience.
Well crafted Interactive VN & refreshing take on the Detective genre.
The interface is new to me, and I will be looking for more games with similar functions and interactions.
I also recommend completing Achievements.
Easily attained and community guide has it covered too.
For anyone who loves a good story, this will satisfy and with the puzzles, to me, make for a journey worth the trip, which is Free. tho not at all cheap.
Enjoy the ride

Another well crafted PnC HO game from Artifex Mundi.
oh, actually, 99% - it seems impossible to collect all Achievements - e.g. my only Achievement left to get is, Achievement for finding all the Achievements.
It seems there is one missing from the game, therefor, Achievement hunters, search the discussion boards first, if there was/is a fix i ddnt see.
Of course, if u want to play the sequels of this series, u will enjoy this one.

The Detective concept is my jam, and add a touch of occult n a ghost town, well, happy gamer.
Having a pin-up board where all clues are gathered, where it is left up to us to group the evidence of relative questions is so much more satisfying than the standard, retrieve items, do a puzzle, rinse and repeat, leaving the story and puzzles to keep me interested.

Ambience and background sound & music provide the feeling of ominous tension, where once again, I find myself rushing to save the day, before its...too..late.. SO I had my own little comic relief, at myself every now and then.

Hoping the sequel has the 'evidence' tab function, as this, the graphics, storyline and sfx sense of urgency makes for an immersive experience.

Other reviewers have covered this report in better detail, and dispatch just called me in on new urgent case.
