The gameplay loop is new and interesting although the endgame and the game as a whole may not be as interesting for returning players of the IP. The combat is more engaging than the previous titles where its a glorified smack the body bag that periodically fights back. Focus mode keeps me actively seeking harder targets for big damage and rewards, like jingling keys it keeps me engaged with my head on a swivel. Story is phenomenal and takes a very different turn that previous titles that i rather enjoy far more. The accessibility of multiplayer were a bit strange but after my not tech savvy ass tried with my two brothers also not tech savvy asses spent ten minutes to figure it out it was no longer an issue. I played with both my brothers separately and together throughout the entire story of the game. The AI joining you when players do not, is a welcome addition for new and beginner players to get the intended monster hunter feel.

What made me a little sad is the lack of presentation of the endemic life like worlds had even if i almost never interacted with it and the lack of cosmetics for my seikret. Not sure if it is also a complaint but theres no clear indication of what capturing gets from slaying.

Most of the present reviews will blame 'optimization' but i will let you know now that at least half of them having that as a primary complaint arent telling you about their computer specs or how to prevent replicating those same issues.

I had one crash in MH wilds; I was running youtube on brave, streaming my second monitor to discord with wilds on it, while i was doing dailies on limbus, nikke, GFL2, HSR, and zenless at the same time. I had left the game running all night and before focusing on it, i wanted to multitask playing all my dailies first. It crashed some point while minimized as i was idling in camp. Chat, is that my fault?

processor i7-12700
ram 16g
RTX 4080
ssd t7 shield
hard wired ethernet on fiber internet

I have zero issues with playing this game and i have yet to find the mysterious 'optimization' monster. someone please tell me what parts it drops and if the armor and weapons are any good

What id like to see in wilds;
Capturing or taming monsters mid fight with another to have that monster compete against and its territory it in favor of you. The Doshaguma horde is pretty annoying when its just you getting hunted by several. Running into the herbivore herd gave the idea that itd be nice to have a monster you could ride like rise to battle others from that area.
Or
Capturing monsters placing them in your area to fight and reget materials or for simple practice.

A unique beat em up gacha game that id love to recommend.

If it ever returns from EOS, its a title to try at the very least.

my positives would be the unique character designs and interactions made the pacing feel engaging and enjoyable. The story was eccentric and riveting even if a bit on the nose. Had the feel of its previous visual novel entries through and though while even delivering a new type of pvp in the way of a flashy baseball debate system. The world and its individual side stories and events were light hearted and enjoyable to read. Overall the gameplay was easy to manage and its daily routine was effortless.

As much as i enjoyed this game, there were a few if not very damning things that told me immediately that it would not last very long if im to discount the current gacha market titans.

Although unique and engaging, the baseball pvp felt very out of place. During story arcs, it was easy to be bogged down by too many vague pieces of evidence that would normally cause you to lose that game, but the story puts you through anyway. Im not sure if this was intentional to drum up stress of failure, which did work every time, but i never truly felt like i won in the end, just was given a pass. I would like the debate system to actively expect you to use your evidence to win in the end instead of railroading victory.

Part of your daily routine was a material sharing system that was tied to your free currency earned each day, until late game it was near impossible to interact with it given the materials requested from other players would be of a far higher quality than you had the capacity to give, since what you could ask for was anything with zero restrictions. It should be tied to your current tier.

Sadly, the most painful note is the combat. The characters having their unique passives affect and possibly completely change the way their kit functions was incredibly interesting and i took advantage of thise swapping semba to a dps form instead of using her healing. Although the combat in and of itself was enjoyable for me, not much of a gamer, i saw many choices in its function that caused me to shy away from certain characters or abilities. Some characters felt slow and clunky in their abilities and use to a point of detriment against certain enemies, most notably the shark. I know the first instance of fighting the shark was a filter for most, i could even see it in the dungeon with the mortality rate shining back a sterling 19 or under percent. I mainly used semba and yutaka because i grew attached to those characters, but as i used others i noticed they did not have any of the animation cancels or even remotely the same smoothness in combat. Almost having me avoid using anyone else altogether. The parry system was a bit strange too, in order for a parry to land, you have to make physical contact with the enemy using the attack. Yutakas aoe parry would frequently miss point blank enemies not targeting him but sembas homing parry meant she could parry anything anywhere if you were locked on. This felt unintentional.

As a closing thought, i thing the game and the story itself was still wonderful and i would love to play it offline going forward. Id have no qualms about spending on a box price to keep playing. Outside of my perspective, i think this game was targeting a specific audience im not familiar with in the spike chunsoft games. I feel like the majority of people that came to play possibly did it with an interest in the danganronpa series and its affiliates expecting that kind of gameplay and functionality. To better prepare myself for that kind of game pre-release i watched my friends play these games and explain their stories and mechanics as i wasnt really its audience. If i was a fan of those older games, i most likely would have been confused and annoyed at whats here.

All in all, ill miss this game. I think the idea even if its execution was a little skewed, is wonderful. Im going to miss yutakas episodes and sembas wonderful personality.

Good luck on your future endeavors, Akatsuki Games.

First and foremost, if you plan on playing solo then you will find this game frustrating to complete at times.

Very select weapons are strong and most weapons will massively under preform as the ai in single player will do middling damage and struggle to keep up with some geometry. I have found more than several times where ive had to restart missions because the ai companions will find their ways into areas not normally accessible or halted by what seems like invisible walls.

The most annoying habit of the singleplayer ai is that they feel the need to always be in front of you and both on your left and right in a reverse wedge. This causes an issue with the number of enemies that will often occupy that scope as they attempt to swarm you. Even turning your camera is enough to spark them to constantly shift back and fourth in front of you as they block most of your shots.

Even if i cant modify the kit, weapons, or perks of the ai companions... at least give me the ability to tell them to get out of my way or stand behind me.

Last of my complaints: Techs turrets even with all the perks to make them tough, die in two hits and are commonly focused on over anything else. Theyre cannon fodder for a few seconds with almost a 20 second cooldown. Ive played a lot of late game with strangers and im the only tech ive seen in quickplay. The turret kills runners easily but struggles with everything else. The only thing I feel would make the base turret more effective would be reducing their accuracy and damage but increasing their health and fire rate. Id rather the turrets feel more like weakening the horde as a whole or at the very least being worth their two hits/three seconds of life. Putting nearly every stat boosting perk on them to see if their capacity changes felt as if all they did was get noticed and killed sooner. Honestly a waste, id rather have recons shock dog instead of the turrets.

**I have spent more time trying not to shoot the AI companions than i have attempting to kill the enemy AI from how they will almost constantly attempt to put themselves inside your field of view as well as in front of you. It has singlehandedly ruined my singleplayer experience.**

As for what i think is good about the game; it is middling at best, and my personal anger at having to struggle to aim past ai companions isnt a good enough reason for a negative review.

I enjoy the lore, the focus of the game, the gameplay cycle, the aesthetic, and most of the classic weapons. I have had a ton of fun playing with strangers and my friends alike, though sadly i came back to finish the game in a period of inactivity with the game forcing me to use the singleplayer AI that i find strongly disagreeable in order to achievement hunt.

Easy and normal are fine in singleplayer but if you find a way to deal with hard or extreme in singleplayer, please let me know. Watching my turrets get one shot making tech useless, and having lancer/demo lose a third of every mag to that awful ai positioning has been my bane.

TLDR: buy on discount if youre hurtin for cash. not a game for everyone, more for fans of the series, many games do it better. great with friends and even strangers. A good weekend game.

A bullet hell survivor game with great music and unique designs, if youre a fan of those things i recommend trying it in the very least. The story was simple and the gameplay rewarding. One of the few games ive played in recent years that has zero complaints from me.

Thank you to the developer, artist, and musician for giving me such a wonderful experience. I hope you all have wonderful days.

TL:DR - Fantastic Post-Apocalyptic Rhythm game with the highest difficulty only being the training wheels for late game
Good Luck!

A rhythmic beat-em-up with a retro feel; if youre looking for a short title to emulate how to be the chillest protagonist this might be the game for you. Parry Dodge and Slam your opponents away as you fight through more complicated enemy attack patterns and defeat conditions. Youre going to let them tire themselves out before you just give em the tap to watch them fall.

The realest challenge is after youve mastered story mode, youll find yourself facing down two difficult yet unique to each other modes:

New Dawn - The epilogue with even more difficult patterns and enemies to match with a continuation to the story and its aftermath.
Passiverse - Climb the ladder of Masters as you unlock your previously trained abilities to face of this mini-rouge-lite dive. Prepare to hurt, there is no grace here.

If the style and gameplay looks unfamiliar or youre looking for a comfy ride, this may not be your title.

If you demand challenge and really want to feel your palms sweat, head to the post game and see if you can raise those achievement numbers. It will require more than training and patience, youll need a whole lotta calm.

I very much enjoyed the journey of learning the game and its play, but i do have my gripes:

-Dark Enemies: They often confuse the AI on Master and will frequently have enemy groups twitching in place as i uncomfortably watch their seizures. A light sneeze or just a few steps to the right for the player will fix that. Dark enemies themselves feel too much of a time locked gimmick to feel like im as badass as i think i am. I think allowing us to at least dodge their attack would be stellar. For newer players, dash away and force a fight elsewhere to disengage.

-Map Hazards: Mortars and the Sun Beams are not totally unfair gimmicks, theyre easy enough to dodge with a couple dashes or a few back-steps. If their zone of effect was smaller for the mortar to give more time to fight, or the laser had a larger area but only covered top of bottom of the map i feel it would make these things feel less cumbersome. Although to be fair, the game is more than enough manageable as is with these mechanics. There just feels like they are missing some kind of tweak i wouldnt be the guy to ask about.

Early Access Review
Wonderful game with friends, easy to use and simple mechanics for its mini games to waste your time for hours.

Apparently going afk in your condo gets you vac banned so dont do that.

Otherwise if youve got a group of far away friends and you wanna waste time playing in arcades and watching videos together i highly recommend.

An excellent addition to the franchise, i found fun playing nearly any faction the game had to offer. Combat was in depth enough that the right positioning on the map with the right strategy nearly any odds stacked against you can still be won in your favor.

A look into an old gaming style i loved back in the days of castlevania. This type of game i will always love. A bit conky very rarely but nonetheless didnt take away from gameplay. Simple story and design. A nice break if youre looking for a side game to dedicate a few days to.

Lisa is a very simple turn based rpg. Everything about the game from controls to play style is over simplified for those who have experienced games similar to it before. Other than mechanics, nothing about the characters, story, and atmosphere of the game is simple. From strange monsters, through lifelong bullys, and diabolically pained villains; This game paints the entire world gray, where matters of good and evil have no meaning. Its up to you to decide if what you do is right or wrong, and the game will... WILL make you decide. As you play, you'll feel the necessary evil and the unreasonable good of your actions. Are rumors true? Do you judge every book by the cover? Is everything the way it should be? Are you playing a broken hero, or a martyred villain. The coin this game offers you has no sides. Ive played it over and over again, going through combos, different story arcs, seperate paths, and nothing in this game even lets you assume its simple to state. This game is a joy to play, its really all you need. Do you have the Joy necessary to survive the anguish this game offers?

Its a very sweet and predictable story but none the less it has its cute laughs. Id recommend this game for if youre bored and you like catgirls. I absolutely love the diversity of the catgirls and how sweet his little sister is. There isnt any story choices as its just a visual novel, but the ending is still sweet. At least theres more!
