5 minutes in and I already knew I would love this game!
The dialogues are so dumb sometimes it's hilarious. But at the end of the day, this is a genuinely good slice of life comedy VN that will make you get diabetes from all the interactions between MC and the girls.

After 2 years of waiting, we can once again go back to Saint Angraecum Academy; to the beautiful world of yuri that we all love and know too well. However, Summer has gone and along with it are the usual joyous feelings that we knew of...

Autumn comes.

Yuzuriha, the almighty and seemingly invincible president is the protagonist this time around. It wouldn’t be a stretch to call her the only Prince in the Academy. But it turns out that everything we knew in Spring and Summer was all but a facade that Yuzuriha put up to hide her own timidness and fragility. Yuzuriha, who seems like a hero that will save those in need of her help is in fact, the one who needs her very own hero instead.

Nerine, the sweet and caring vice-president that we all have taken for granted. She has and will always be there when Yuzuriha needs her; Neri will always be the hero for Yuzuriha, yet this beautiful relationship has an ugly beginning and only Neri and Neri alone know. In her eyes she has manipulated and changed Yuzuriha so much that the guilt does not allow her to seek salvation. The only one who could free her from her own misery is none other than Yuzuriha.

Autumn is a melancholy season. It’s the season of changes; people generally prefer status quo to changing something in their lives. But only through changes can we mature and better ourselves as a human being.

Reading automne, to be perfectly honest, has been an angsty and bittersweet journey. It is nothing like printemps and été. But I’m glad I got to experience this. Erika, Chidori, Suoh, Rikka, Ringo, Ichigo. Everyone has grown so much ever since we met them in printemps. And last but not least, Yuzuriha and Neri, both have sacrificed so much for each other but it was well worth it. The ending was emotional and it really touched my heart.

Now that I'm done with all the routes, time to write down a well-deserved review for this game.

tl;dr: With a wholesome and fulfilling story for each of the main heroines along with a great cast of supporting characters, Aokana is definitely one of the more safer choices when it comes to "What should I read next".


The story in Aokana is simple so it's quite easy to follow. In fact, for the most part it almost becomes too predictable. However, Aokana is not about the destination, it's about the journey. Throughout each route, you get to see not only the growth of the girl but Masaya (MC) himself; both as a FC player and a person.


Here's my brief opinion about each girl, as well as the route order I did for my playthrough and the route order I personally recommend:

Asuka : Asuka is almost too pure and innocent; the same thing can be said about her love for the sport as well as her motivation. She can be ditzy at times but that's what's so charming about her. Also I can't stress how much I love random Asuka's noise.

Rika : The friendly girl next door. Rika is kind and diligent but this is also her biggest weakest. Personally I think Rika's route is plain and is the weakest among the 4 but I don't dislike it. Sorry Rika's fans.

Mashiro : At first I wasn't excited at all about her character cause it seemed like it wouldn't function properly without Misaki's support. But I'm glad I was wrong. Mashiro has the most touching story and she really is the best kouhai you could ask for.

Misaki : Misaki is bae. That's all I have to say.

I finished the game with that exact order. Now, If I were to recommend the order I think would be the best, it has to be Rika/Mashiro -> Asuka -> Misaki. Rika and Mashiro's stories are unrelated to the overall plot so you can choose whoever you want. Misaki should be played last so you can truly experience her character development.


I don't really know why but I gotta make a dedicated section for this.

At first I really thought that it wasn't necessary to play Aokana with hscenes restored as weird as it may sound. I went with Asuka route first and for the most part the story revolved heavily around FC and sport in general so the romance aspect of the game wasn't at all prominent. Naturally this makes Asuka hscene kinda forced and it felt like they have it for the sake of having it. Rika and Mashiro didn't get much better treatment either. Misaki however, this I can approve of. Again, as weird as it sounds, Misaki route has a proper eroge feel to it so her hscene makes sense. At this point I know I'm not making any sense but if you make it this far thank you.


I think Aokana is great and you can't really go wrong with picking this up. Special shout-out to our adorable manager Madoka who makes every scene she appears in 10x more interesting!

"Would you recommend this game to other players?"

Of coursed it was an easy decision. I couldn't possible say no even I were forced to,

Impression: Fantastic VN! Everything about G-Senjou is an easy 9 or even 10 (except for the art since the vn itself is a bit dated; me personally wasn't affected as much but I know someone who does). I wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone! (along with the voice pack if you could, it will enhance the experience tenfold).

Route recommendation: If you don't plan to skip the other routes then I recommend saving Haru's route for last. I was doing fine up until chapter 5 and thought to myself that I had done a great job and what a journey it has been. And then the epilogue hit. Couldn't really say it was out of nowhere, but I was certainly not prepared. And it broke me. All the feels I didn't know I've had built up inside all this time suddenly came out. And it really did broke me. Hearing "Close your eyes" playing in the background along side with how the story unfolds is the most memorable and painful experience with G-Senjou to me. Lots of tears were shed cause I'm a really sappy person, but I'm glad whenever a vn manages to make you cry.

P/s: Justice for Yuki cause despite being a great character she doesn't have her own route!

Where do I even start...

If you just want the tl;dr version on whether you should buy it or not: YES!

Summer Pockets is yet another excellent yet depressing work of Jun Maeda. It is, first of all, a slow-burner type of VN though so keep that in mind when you start reading. Everything starts out slowly as we get to spend our summer vacation with everyone. It feels natural. Everyday is filled with endless fun and it really makes you think of what we're gonna do tomorrow.

Naturally you unconsciously get attached to it; to the fun as well as the people you're having fun with. That's when the drama hits us, and it hits like a truck. Honestly the game doesn't try to hide it at all, and you clearly can see where it's heading. But for some reasons, it still hits so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard...



Or route recommendation. Honestly just go with whoever you feel like doing first. But this is what i did:

Shiroha: Shiroha is a good starting point. Her route felt very vanilla but doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. This serves as a good introduction to the story as well as the supernatural element that plays a huge role in the rest of the VN.

Ao: I don't even know what to say. I feel like I could write an essay about how great her route is but we'll leave it at that. This is arguably the best route for me. I cried so much my eyes hurt.

Kamome: A lot of people might find Kamome's route mediocre but personally Kamome story connects with me on a spiritual level, mostly because the summer vacation I used to spend when I was younger was a lot like what was going on in her story. Everyday was a thrilling adventure with the other kids in the countryside (in my case they were my cousins). So reading Kamome's route really takes me back.

Tsumugi: Tsumugi is just too precious. Everything about her is precious. Her song at the end really touched me.

True end p1: This whole part is just a build up for the storm to come and I was already teary at the end
True end p2: Reading this is a roller coaster of emotion. So much happiness; so much sadness; so much tear... This and Ao's route is really close when it comes to what route is the best for me. But in the end I'm gonna give it to Ao's.


Buy it! Everything about it is perfect. I haven't really go over the music and voice acting and such but everything is top-notch! Although if I were to complain, there's a few typos here and there, and the biggest nuisance is that your eyes are gonna get really dry and then its gonna hurt from all the crying. I'm not even kidding.

What a wholesome eroge! I've finished Yoshino's route and it was just pure bliss. Trust me this is as vanilla as it gets and I coudn't help but to grin whenever Yoshino is around. I will finish all the routes eventually but, call me bias, I really don't think any of them could beat Yoshino. Also, this is very obvious but I really think this should be played with the R18 patch installed. Hscenes aren't just there for lewd reasons but it shows how much the characters love each other, both physically and spiritually.


The game is really well-made. I thoroughly enjoyed every minutes of the game. Thank you so much, Yuzusoft as well as NekoNyan for bringing such a wonderful product to us. I will 100% support them more and more in the future!


Edit: My words have come back and haunted me. I really thought the chemistry between the MC and Yoshino is undisputed. But after having completed Mako route, I'm not so sure about it anymore. Mako is just way too precious, and her chemistry with the MC is just as good as Yoshino . There are only so many smiles that you can protect....


I haven't done the other 2 routes yet but now I'm confident they will be just as good!

Tl;dr: If you're looking for a good yuri VN then Nurse love addiction won't let you down!

The game starts off really slow with mostly cute girls doing cute things together. But that latter half of the game is where all the drama really begins. Needless to say I was quite surprised with some of the scenes. I've only seen half of the endings available at the point of this review.

The girls themselves are really cute and have great chemistry with each other, making almost every moments in the game enjoyable, even if its just banters between friends. Honorable mention goes to Itsuki for being a real bro to everyone and especially to the MC as well as her Princess.

Route wise you can honestly go for any girls you like, but I recommend playing Nao's route first because her route provides the most information as well as gives you a nice background knowledge to all of the characters. Also all the bad endings are quite disturbing...

Finally I just wanna say

The Alpha world line from the first game is already depressing...
But S;G 0's Beta world line is, imho, even more depressing.

Being Okabe Rintaro is nothing but suffering.

Playing S;G is depression
But it's the good and bad kind of depression at the same time.

Thanks to all the free time I've got from quarantine, I've experienced joy and sadness; I've experienced happiness and agony; from being hopeful and back to being hopeless; I'm nothing but a wreckage right now.

But was it worth it?

Yes

Of course it was worth it

I would go back to the past, brainwashed my past self so that I could experience S;G all over again if I could.
I would do it all over again
To save her.

What a roller coaster of emotions! I wish I had started reading it earlier, but it's never too late I guess.
Conclusion: Just buy it. The VN is just that good!

Also, PHANTASM / FES rocks!
