Early Access Review
Played this game before Early Access Release.

I've got some strange "issue" where every game my gun will not shoot, or will infinitely reload, or will get stuck in my bags. Something that makes the game unplayable. This was fine in Early Access Alpha, and I had reported these bugs months ago.

Come up to the early access announcement, I told them the game was not ready because they cannot make baseline game functions (Looting, Shooting, Movement) actually function. They pushed early access anyway, and the game averages less than 100 players now. I'm amazed even that many people play a game that won't even function but the Idea of the game is amazing so maybe they are holding out hope like I did. I didn't keep up with playing the game but I made a check in every month or so and updated my bug reports. None of those issues are fixed, the game is still literally unplayable, and we are at time of posting a month past early access release. It's never going to become playable I don't believe unfortunately.

The concept of the game is amazing, and I wish it actually functioned at all but unfortunately that's not in the cards it seems.

(Inside the Sony Office)

What do you mean its a hit?

You mean... People are having fun?

They cant do that.

Make them do something inconvenient, not available in multiple regions (locking some people out of the game they paid for permanently), and most importantly THAT WASN'T MENTIONED WHEN THE GAME WAS INITIALLY PURCHASED.

They saw Nikita change the exclusive items on the EoD edition after it was sold and decided to join him in saying...
"I have altered the deal, pray I do not alter it farther".

**BEWARE** If you get anything above the standard package, it is installed as a "DLC" so you CANT refund the game.

Performance:
7800x3d, 12GB 1080ti w/ Overclock, 32gb 6000 Ram = 30 Frames at 1920x1080p.

People talk about this FRAME GENERATION and how it "FIXED THEIR FPS" but their missing important information or are just not FPS/Gaming savvy. They include a "Frame Generation" feature, which uses AI to pretend your FPS is better. With Frame Generation on my frames SHOWED 90 fps yet ran only marginally smoother, but more than tripled my input delay to a super noticeable delay between any inputs and actions actually occurring that was absolutely unacceptable for a FPS game.

Running the game at 33% Render Resloution turned everything into an un-see-able mess and still only pushed me up to 45 Frames.

Reviews are pretty accurate. Game runs like absolute trash. The game itself may be pretty fun but its performance shows it was only released at current as a poorly disguised cash-grab over all the BSG drama. Only got the standard edition and already requested a refund*.

(*Apparently some people don't understand the idea of warning others.)

Prestige 3, 2.3kpm, 2.6 KD infantry only.

Very enjoyable game that was made by a indie dev team.

Love everything about the game, the small dev team however cant balance their way out of a paper bag. If you are dissuaded from games where only a specific few guns are even viable because their so far ahead of every other gun, then that's the problem you'll find here. If you have no problem playing with only the overpowered weps, you'll probably find enjoyment in the game. Despite my opinion on balance and such, the game play is fun and the foundations of a good solid game are absolutely present.

It's just the lack of weapon balancing killing it for me. SMG's have been the best weapon at all ranges since the game came out, despite multiple balance passes the strongest SMG's are still the strongest weapons in the game, and viable if not kinda wild in mid ranges while having an overwhelming advantage in close ranges. I'm not against SMG's beating other weps in CQC, just their poor balance lets SMG's beat out most other weapons at ALL ranges. With the most recent recoil adjustments they yet again brought the most problematic smg back into the top gun in the game spot, I'm no longer convinced they will ever fix them, and as such am done with the game. It was fun, would have been more fun if it was balanced.

A Very good game from an indie dev team, just as a competitive minded player I cannot recommend the game with how allergic to balance the devs are.

It's got all the workings of a great game. It's just unfinished and in an only partially playable state atm. But its GONNA be good when its done. Never thought a game could be slower than Phasmophobia, and definitely not by such a margin.

It cant be intentional that with everything setup it takes 30-40m to get one evidence while sweeping the house constantly. So I'm not gonna say bad design, I just don't think everything is working as intended yet. Which as an early access is exactly to be expected, but I cant suggest the game in the state its in.

I tend to rant so going to keep this short. They cleared out almost all of the cheaters, and for surges or those that sneak through there is a compensation system to return gear you carried in and lost to a hacker. They've added a new map, a fair amount of new quests, and done some balance passes on the weapons, gear, and crafting. I'd recommend trying the game out or trying it again if you played in the betas, season 1, or early season 2.

That said there are problems with anything. The endgame loop is a little stale, mostly pvp which is fine for me but theres not much else to do but pvp for pvp sake. The drills and other similar late game events don't successfully cause a PvP/PvE loop where you do one to do the other and it gives more meaning to both. But that is something that they are supposedly aware of and looking into adjusting, though many of the more casual sided players may not make it through the whole thing as they added more to it, but serious players will likely still make it through the questline even starting late into the season. All things that can be easily adjusted as the game progresses forwards, but the main problems holding it back have been in my opinion mostly cleared up.

I love the game. I hate the developers.

The servers are terrible and continue to degrade every few months. Every patch they put in breaks 2-3 existing features or aspects of the game. They released a hotfix that broke merit (the outfit based currency responsible for point hold items) for over a month, and had done multiple other patches between then without fixing it or talking about it, no rollback, no "oops", just pretended it didn't exist.

The support plays favorites havily. They openly threatened a outfitleader in the community named Paletiger with a ban for any more harassment activities, as he was renown for doing just that, and in response he ordered his entire outfit to grief another outfit, and they permanently banned him and terminated his account... for 2 days before reversing it without comment.

They will name change anyone whos name you report under the pretense of "copyright" or "intellectual properties" but when you make a support ticket asking how it was a violation, they'll tell you "It is" and then just close the ticket, meanwhile someone else is running around with the name they stole from me, but every support ticket I put in is set automatically to "solved". (Meanwhile, the GM who did this was ironically named exactly the same as a trademarked company, but hey, rules for thee but not for me.)

The game itself is fun, though it has its problems, the real problem and thing driving me and in my opinion many others away from this actually fairly solid game (again, despite rough edges and problems like every game has) is the developers, the support team, and their actual PALPABLE lack of care for the community or aversion to anything that sounds like "work". But hey, heres a new $16 reskin for a gun that provides no benefit or alternative use (not asking for P2W, there is actually none of that imo). And not even a fancy skin, just a completely black or gold plated version of an existing gun.

Want to color the bumper on your tank? $10.
Want to color the traeds of your tank? Also $10
You want to color your whole tank? Either buy a set on discount, or pay $10 for a recolor per piece of your tank.
Want a full pimped tank? $60

Again, I cant restate this enough. I actually LOVE this game. I've been addicted to it since I started playing it. (my hours are much higher than 420, I left it there for the meme and launch without steam for more FPS). I would recommend you play and enjoy the game, but I don't want to support this dev and support team who just power trip and tend to make things worse instead of better.

As a member of the second place finishing team in the first tournament for the game, This was once my favorite game, and I poured my life into it. However the developers have spat in the face of the game and the core players. The only ones that remain are the 'small' steamers who built their community and have to stay with the game or lose everything. They may have come out with a new Map (absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beautiful map btw, hats off to the art department), but they are the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ developers.

Time between patches is immense, most patches contain nothing but new DLC skins and the same weapon you already have in the game, but with X or Y minor attachment "NEW CONTENT", what a joke. Game has also devolved from a skill based shooter to an arcade fun-house game. Where in early hunt days and beta, hitting shots was important, ammo count was something you had to manage and keep track of, and there were many mechanics that rewarded skilled players.

Since the release of the game they have continuously removed all the skilled mechanics in the game. They initially designed maps and compounds with holes to peek through walls and get cheeky angles, but if a streamer uses them they suddenly have a "minor patch" and things are boarded up without making it into the patch notes. Previously, the only ways to get one shot were a shotgun in super close quarters, or a headshot, but since arcadification they've added many different weapons that one shot chest out to ranges of like 24m.

In old hunt, the you had to handle the game with gunslinger like precision. Carefully managing ammo, noise, everything. In the new hunt, you have nearly unlimited ammo, access to fast firing weapons that two tap chest, absolutely shifting the gameplay focus form careful precise shots, to stormtrooper academy more shots on target being better. (Obviously with the exception of extreme ranges). The servers registration has been downgraded behind the scenes, so now its VERY COMMON to trade with someone after they have been dead for 1-2.5 seconds on your screen.

They murdered my favorite game in front of me, and the community is so toxic. Their great so long as you talk about hats and memes, but if you try to talk about blaring issues in the game, mechanics, the fact it took 2 years of only DLC skins to get a new boss and even longer for a new map (that while good don't equal 2+years of development).

Its so disappointing to see what they did to my boy. I'm actually never buying another Crytek developed game again because of this single studio and single title. It went from being my favorite game, the reason I woke up in the morning, to something completely different than what they sold me on, and they developers seem to care not for their original community, shifting everything over to this new system as fast as they can because its more accessable to newer players (If you trade every death you don't feel like you're bad at a game that was initally proud of how hard it was.

For anyone who played the origional dayz its very similar but im not sure if the loot spots are the same. Other then that its very similar and highly enjoyable for anyone who found enjoyment from the origional dayz. I've heard complaints about bugs but I myself have hit none of them.
