The hours at time of review is all in one sitting. First time playing a civ game and your experience will look something like this:

- Do tutorial to learn turn cycle, and think its not that hard
- New game, crap I have to pick a way I'm going to win? Ok i'll go with a science win, Reddit says that's easiest
- How are these countries getting so much land? Lets get more settlers
- What's production?
- This country isn't happy with me so I'll full on scale my military. Now i'm 3x the size of the others, but I make alliances.
- Wait, science was my goal. Let's build some campuses.
- Why does it take 58 turns to build? Ohhh, that's what production does.
- Let's check my goals progress, how tf is she almost winning with culture? Immediately declare war.
- Why do wars take so long!?
- I lose.

This is not a game. This is an architectural drafting software that you need to learn how to use. As a product designer this just feels like another job, another complex software to learn. Main issues are the lack of use of the keyboard, pool building/editing is frustrating, can't build a simple paths the way I want, navigating UI is annoying, building coaster is too complex, learning curve is high, and more. The tasks in career mode... laughable. I'll end by repeating, this is not a game, it's an annoying job.

I'm left with no other option than to spend time with my kids. Refunding.

[EDIT]

Suggestions for Frontier:

1. UI: a. Use the keyboard ffs and provide contextual legends. b. Provide labels in facility selection screens, I can't tell what they are until hovering. c. Floating dialog boxes d. Ride view should be default, not edit. I hate having to click on the ride, then on the ride button to get to open it. e. Personal opinion, the UI should default to a darker blue, not white. Makes it feel more modern similar to PZ.
2. Pools: a. I should be able to edit the tiles and decks of an existing pool, not have to rip it out and replace. b. Why do we have to connect slides to a pool? In orlando's volcano bay, I think they have one set of slides that do this. All others do not. c. Physics, come on man. d. life vests for kids in lazy. d. lockers
3. Themes: It's crazy that we don't have kids theme or kids water park options such as water playgrounds, splash fountains, etc. These are key areas of water parks. Also, the rest of the others complaints on lack of theme I agree.
4. Management: IMO management is why I like tycoons more than creativity and lacks in this game a. Crime b. money feels free. It's about how much you can make not how much is going out. Two Point games gets this part well and makes management so much more fun.
5. Coaster Building: Simplify this! Why does this have to be so damn complex? RCT3 is much easier and satisfying than even PC1. I don't want to tweak every bolt on the coaster. IMO we've taken customization way too far to the point it's not fun. I might be in the minority here.
6. Guests: a. wait, are there even kids in this game? b. Why are they so dumb? They don't know how to walk, complain about things that aren't happening to them.

Overall: Simplify this game for easier building and ui navigation, enhance management gameplay for those that prefer that over customization, apply some physics (even bad physics would be nice), fix the AI, fix the UI, and simplify the coaster and pool building process for those of us without architectural degrees. Thanks.

*Not negative due to bugs!*

TLDR: Wait until this game is <$30. Fun story, not very immersive.

Review:
AI is the reason I give this a negative review. The trailers sell us a living city, with AI on day/night cycles, tons of micro interactions that make everything have a purpose. In reality you get a press "F" to talk and they say some dumb one-liner and thats it. The AI does the same animation on a loop and the city feels dead AF. The AI was supposed be a selling point, and is without a doubt what is holding it back (not going to mention the bugs because that can be fixed).

On a positive note, as others mentioned story is pretty good and the city is beautiful. Driving is great, first game where the car actually feels big and heavy and not a matchbox car (looking at you GTA).

If you're a fan of collectathons like Banjo Kazooie and a HP fan, you'll naturally love this game. I was unsure if I'd like the lego style but it's grown on me.

Not a fisherman IRL and I can still tell this is NOT a simulation. Toss in your line to any spot on the lake, 3 seconds you'll have an immediate bite, wait till the text says strike then right click. Repeat. 5 mins later your backpack is full. If you yank the mouse like you would a pole the line comes out of the water and flies everywhere.

This game is freemium, meaning it's designed to take your $ every which way it can. Its basically a mobile phone game for your desktop.

This game did turn me on. However she has too many bugs. Normally if I like a game and find out it has bugs I weigh my options. What are my chances of catching these bugs if I play this game? Well this one is not one you want to gamble with. I've encountered a couple quest ending bugs requiring me to wait for update or find a workaround, getting stuck on stupid objects etc. Nice storyline that hooked me to buy it however I feel like I've wasted $60 as now im just turned off.
