I have accrued 900+ hours playing only Milsim, i had promised to stop at 911 (NEVER FORGET) but yet again for the 8th time in 7 years. i played again. ive relapsed to the larperating bug. should you also fall down this rabbit hole, or go into it for the RP stuff. the games a pure 10/10. come lose your sanity with friends.

for those trying to enjoy for any other reason, may your bacon burn and your dreams forever be haunted by "Contact front"

The re-imagining of the original System Shock™ by Nightdive Studios is one of accuracy to it's muse, the grandfather of the immersive sim, the spiritual master and commander of the genre, System Shock™

Nightdive Studios spent many years of immense effort and millions of dollars to pay the utmost respect and show their undying admiration to it's source material, all the while treading extremely carefully to make everything about this remake feel, look and behave in a manner that in a tender loving and endearing love letter to the admittedly clunky, yet ultimately brilliant original System Shock™ title. they did all that whilst also improving how the game plays and allows players new to this legendary "Proto Immersive Sim™" IP to be filled with the same feelings of terror and sheer disorientation of finding yourself completely lost on SHODAN's Citadel Station as the veteran hackers of the stations original players did back in the 1990's when the original released. and both groups of players find themselves completely inundated with Citadel Station's crew, turned into abominations, nay. i say experimental playthings SHODAN boiled up to act as security and to exert her will on the physical realm while she remains locked into the now derelict stations networked far future Cyberpunk equivalent of a "internet of things" connected corporate space station.

Scoring

the game runs great, i have not noticed a single dip in performance on ultra settings @ 4k 120fps. it feels like an extremely optimised and well polished game, it should not be a concern to run this unless you have trouble running CS:GO or something yknow. 10/10

mods are already on the nexus-mods website, seems to be an easy to mod game 9/10

the game has a multitude of UI, Difficulty, graphic and control options and settings and accessibility features including colourblindness options and multiple UI themes and colour options are available.
However as of writing the current release version has a bug with it's controls and keybindings settings where it will wipe any newly assigned mouse inputs as keybindings, so for those of you who want to swap pickup and interact (Right mouse button as default) with aim weapon/zoom (Middle Mouse button) you may have to just suffer through it until nightdive fix it. however as i am unlikely to revisit this review in the future dearest reader, when this will inevitably be fixed in an upcoming patch, i will not be reducing this sections score which is. 8/10

game play feels aimless at first, but once you get a feel for Citadel station and the weapons it becomes frantic and Bioshock like in nature. unfortunately weapon effects and impact on target feel weightless at times and just not satisfying without a much needed and tweaked impact loop for making impact with whatever weapon you use on the stations many unfriendly inhabitants.
7/10

the story is optional and literally littered around the entirety of citadel station in the form of audio logs and emails book ended nicely by a start and ending cut scene. it's the exact same as the original game from the 90's, nothing special, but very fitting for a 90's take on a dystopian cyberpunk future.
that said it's pretty well written and the voice actors did a great job conveying emotion where the original did not. 9/10

bugs are basically non existent from my experience and if they do happen then they are not of any detriment to the ability to complete the game at all. the only bug i have found is that corpses reset their position and physics when entering an area again after a long time or upon first launch and loading of your save game resulting in a body you've killed hours before being stood up like they are alive and then quickly rag-dolling to the floor like some kind of glitch in the matrix.
and considering i'm not counting the bug with not being able to rebind mouse binds i'm just gonna call this section good as gold and give'er a natural high score for being ridiculously close to bug free for a major game project in 2023. 9/10

sound its really good and atmospheric, though you can hear enemies in other rooms making you feel like they are in the same room as you when in fact they are in a room that is geographically close. weapons feel a little quiet, but comfortable and punchy all the same, the sound Foley of the environment itself is superb and feels like it's a living breathing machine
7/10

Soundtrack the original upbeat music has been swapped out for a barely noticeable ambience soundtrack that does nothing but to scare or unnerve the player when it can be actually discerned which is relegated to combat, boss fights and extremely quiet moments. the rest of the sound Foley of machines whirring and stuff like that is excellent but is accounted for in the sound section above and not applicable to the score here i sincerely hope some enterprising modder ports the original soundtrack over to replace this almost nonexistent one that feels like a stylistic choice to further enhance the survival horror feeling of system shock 4/10

as it turns out the optional story i mentioned earlier in this review, while technically true, you dont actually need to read or listen to any of the tapes and emails to finish, the game, if you know what your doing you can just wander around and complete the objectives to finish the game without any of it in true immersive sim fashion. however your first time around citadel station kind of requires you to actually pay attention and take notes less you find yourself stuck because you didn't write down a door code or remember to take an isotope to a shield generator. the game is very skippable like that and some will love the no handholding design of this "proto-ImSim" while this is not a traditional scored section of any review. im dubbing this the "Wild card bonus" of my completely invented review score system. 9/10

the games difficulty options and puzzles are extremely reconfigurable to your liking the difficulty options are laid out into 4 separate options with 3 difficulties for each option. they are as follows.
combat, it sets the enemies count, their respawn rate and their health.

mission controls how easy it is to complete the game by following the stories strewn about audio logs and emails. with the easiest giving you way-points to the objective you need to complete.

Cyber controls how the completely uncrappified cyber-hacking mini-game behaves and how easy it is to complete. harder difficulties will have multiple objectives per cyber hacking area of each station level.

Puzzle controls how easy the the wiring and power puzzles are. these puzzles are challenging but not impossible, you at first will literally stumble around in the dark and not understand how any of the variations of puzzles work or how to complete them, but i promise you they can be completed, there is not a single puzzle that cannot be completed by you in the game, they are just confusing and hard sometimes

difficulty score 10/10

Grand Total Score

I Rate System Shock™, the remake/remaster by Nightdive Studios an 82/100

i endorse your choice to purchase this game whenever you feel like you want to.
while a discount is always nice, you do not need to wait for a steam sale to pick this up if you are keen to give the studio some extra love as they are working on System Shock 2™ now apparently and im not going to lie this remaster is amazing and extremely well done with only a very few negative nancy issues or poor design choices.

i hope you have enjoyed reading this review or it has influenced how you see the game and have bought it as a result. i would honestly love to hear about it in the comments for this review that i have left open.

i wish you all dear a very happy day/afternoon/evening/goodnight and take care on Citadel Station

the game is amazing, sure there are obvious glaring issues and some much needed QoL improvements that must be made. but i must remind the dear reader that CDPR as a developer has been known to release games in states much like this. the witcher 3 and the witcher 2 were also insanely buggy messes that given enough time were polished and patched to such a degree some would claim they are GOTY material today. even going as far as adding new content and adding features missing from their games upon launch.

Now i personally reccomend you only purchase cyberpunk 2077 on the sole condition that you can play and enjoy a game fraught with bugs and other assorted issues if you wish to experience the world of Night City right now. or if you are content with waiting the 6 months to a year for the developers to take their time adding much needed polish and patches that will leave the game in a state that will repeat the quality of game that the witcher 3 commands, then i suggest you purchase the game in 6 months to a year's time.

in grand total, i recomend cyberpunk 2077, only if you can handle the issues current with this version of the game.

in time i will update this review and most likely reccomend the game completely when all the bugs and missing features are restored to their intended function

i love it.
i unfortunately i first played on release day when the bugs and performance issues were unpleasant.
but i can say with honor.
that the game feels and plays like a revamped more refined dishonored 1. with even more of the great universe, and more outstanding writing that shows in the plot.

not enough missions though. like the previous game there isn't much length. but makes up in a variety of playstyles, routes to targets. exploration, many endings, dynamic AI systems and very pretty graphics.
and to top it all off.
that there is a separate female PC with a unique and separate campaign of her own.
so take everything from above and multiply by 2. and you realize. this game is a massive, far-reaching experience with great gameplay and a variety that also gushes with world building and lore.

rating. 9.5/10 perfect game minus .5 of a point for lack of game length

Quite possibly one of the best GTA games to date.

a must buy for the singeplayer campaign.
and a meh experience in the online aspect of the game unless you are with friends.
after many replays of this game across 3 systems i still have not 100% the singleplayer, if only you buy the game for singplayer you will not want much more in terms of length and variety of missions.

8-10
multiplayer is blatantly expensive and only fun with friends and a bank account in the 20million mark if you really want to have everything your way.
RECOMMEND: finding a hacker to drop you money or be broke as hell untill you can take out a morgage in real life to be a millionaire ingame.

possibly the game of the decade. witcher 3 is full of detail and intricacies of unparalleled depth and beauty. 100/10 please buy this game and get past the starting area before you make judgement as after the starting area the game comes into its own and gets alot better. and the expansions are as good if not better than the base game. so get those to.

enjoy your stay in occupied temeria master witcher
