They didn’t stop there—they infused the game with their own innovative ideas, such as equipping both the player and Pals with weapons, introducing the ability to catch humans, and crafting a darker, more mature tone that sets it apart.

What’s truly remarkable is that this ambitious project was achieved with a modest budget of just $6.8 million—considered small for a game of this scope—and a development team of only 40 people. Despite these constraints, the developers managed to deliver what I consider a superior experience. The game feels fresh, daring, and polished, proving that meaningful advancements don’t always require blockbuster budgets.

This achievement serves as a wake-up call for modern Pokémon games. As the highest-grossing media franchise in the world, Pokémon should aspire to meet, if not exceed, the standards set by titles like Palworld. It’s time for the series to evolve, taking notes from smaller studios like this one to deliver the innovation and quality that fans deserve.
