While at release i could not really reccomend this game without feeling i shouldnt have, since 2.0 i feel like i can, with lots of things having been reworked and fixed. Still, i would reccomend getting it on sale with all the DLCs, they certainly improve the game a lot, much like with civ 5, but you can leave the species packs and synthetic dawn, but especially the species packs, for later if you so wish. But the other ones, especially leviathans and utopia, are must haves.
