After a lot of time spent thinking about it, and as a longtime fan of the original Monaco, I can't recommend this game in its current state. It's very clear to me that a lot of time, love, effort, and passion went into Monaco 2, but that can only get you so far when the actual foundation of it is a bit off. I've been following development of this game for the past couple years, and while I wouldn't necessarily say I'm disappointed, it definitely needs to be better than what it currently is.

Even just setting design philosophy aside (which is subjective, yes), Monaco 2 is nowhere near what Monaco 1 delivered on; the levels are much more contrived, and oftentimes messier, there's no tutorial for updated/new mechanics to ease players into the levels, enemy AI has questionable and confusing logic at times, the characters are severely unbalanced, tools (such as the smoke bomb) are arguably half broken and don't function as they should, the collectibles blend in too much with the environments, and overall sometimes it just feels like there's too much going on at once. Monaco 2 feels like it's actively having an identity crisis with itself trying to figure out what kind of experience it wants to provide you, the player.

Looking forward to seeing updates and bug patches in the near future. Truly, I do enjoy this game (and its predecessor, of course), but maybe it would have been best if Pocketwatch buffed out a few more kinks before the game came out.

Even knowing what I was walking into, MiSide still blew my expectations out of the water. It's endearingly cute, it's extremely unnerving, and it is completely unwavering in both aspects, at all times.

While most people could probably beat this game in one or two sittings, there's tons of optional little stuff hidden throughout the main story; there's a plethora of little secrets and easter eggs that many players will miss if they are just trying to quickly get from Point A to Point B, and as someone who loves exploring all the little nooks and crannies of a given area, this game was a treat.

Without spoiling anything, the story is pretty solid, and surprisingly self-aware from a narrative standpoint. If you have seen anything from clips online that made you think, "oh wow that game looks cliche", or "ah yeah I bet I know how that ends up going"... I wouldn't worry too much about that. I think most players will still be pleasantly surprised.

MiSide was such a breath of fresh air for me and I'm super glad I bought it on a whim.

anyway cool game i guess but cappie can get it frfr

♥♥♥♥ you for making me pay $20 for this game just to get 1 hour of actual content only to then make it free later on anyway. What are you, Bungie?

I will gladly update my review when this game gets updated to run like it is supposed to (:

----------

so after 3 weeks they updated it and for a second it had me thinking it was all better now

turns out that is not the case, this game still runs like complete ♥♥♥♥, still stutters frequently, still drops controller inputs, still disconnects you from others online, still doesn't support ultra-widescreen, still has atrocious PvP bugs, and still cant even close properly.

I can't believe I actually thought they fixed this game

not even close

100%, ABSOLUTELY still worth buying/playing for a great Zombies experience.

I feel like not enough people talk about how fun the campaign is either, but I'm assuming that if you're here now, you're not here for that. You're most likely thinking to yourself— "am I really about to spend all this money to buy a game I (probably) already have on a different console?" And the answer to that question is yes, yes you are.

Buy the "Zombies Deluxe" version of the game when it goes on sale and you've got yourself 14 quality maps, an ungodly amount of additional maps from the community workshop, a great campaign story, and a real time vampire on your hands. Even if you don't enjoy playing one or two of the maps, you still have such a large variety to choose from. It's crazy to think that, at one point in time, it was hotly debated in the community if this whole "DLC 5" thing was ever going to happen... now look at where we are.

Black Ops III is an interesting case for CoD games in the sense that it, 1), had more love and passion poured into it than arguably any previous CoD entry, and it shows, and 2), received much more content than those before it, and has even more to offer than some of the games that followed it. Thankfully, in this case, the quality of said content is also up to par with the actual quantity of it, which makes for an overall phenomenal experience and is still worth the money to this day.

Grab your friends, grab your wallet, and grab a gun. When it comes to a definitive zombies survival experience, it can't get much better than this.

.... Just— make sure to catch it when it's on sale, yeah?

This game is horrifying in the sense that it simultaneously makes you feel like you can control literally everything but also somehow be completely powerless. It stresses me out.

I love it.

Early Access Review
Update/Edit: I want to clarify that while I enjoy this game, it has a lot of problems that I can't just overlook, and it limits how much I enjoy playing the game itself. I think the foundation for something spectacular is definitely present, it just need to have the kinks worked out before it really gets to something I could recommend in good faith.

I don't have any resentment towards this game or the developers, however I don't get why people think it's a bad thing to make note of issues present in a game (especially one in alpha/beta), as this is how the devs learn and improve upon their product.

----------

game needs some work, but shows a lot of promise

i enjoy it kind of but it can be very frustrating

today it crashed and made me lose 3 hours of progress so yeah I'm kinda upset about that considering it also happens frequently for a lot of people

TL;DR - very enjoyable stealth-heist game that will periodically challenge you to balance your inner sense of greed and impatience! Playing alone feels intricate and intense, while playing with friends can change the entire game into a ridiculous mess of laughter and tomfoolery.

This is genuinely one of the greatest games I've ever played. Monaco is a HUGE sleeper pick, and it's always bugged me. I originally found out about it around 2014 or so when it was "Free with Gold" on Xbox Live and I probably put over 200 hours on it just on console. Everything about this game— the artstyle, the subtle storytelling (and twists), the music, characters, all of it... it combines together to make an incredibly unique and refreshing stealth experience that you won't find elsewhere.

The level design of each map is super fun to just run around and explore, even after you've beaten it. The narrative, while I personally think it delivers a great story, is totally optional, and the gameplay is just as fun without it, if you don't feel inclined to reading any dialogue between missions. And, speaking of which, there's LOTS of them; there are three or four different "storylines" you can progress through, each having their own themes and are.. told from a different perspective, essentially. There's also the Workshop content and level editor as well, which just opens the door for all kinds of new and inventive stuff you can find.

All in all, this game has a lot to offer and it is genuinely a one-of-a-kind experience that never fails to amuse me, even all these years later. 100% worth your money for full price, but if you find it on sale, consider grabbing it for yourself and a friend— you won't regret it.
