I really wanted to enjoy this game, because I loved Guerilla so much. It manages to dissapoint completly.

The gimmick of the Red Faction games has always beed destruction physics, and it is present in Armageddon as well. The problem is that Armageddon isnt about the destruction, unlike Guerilla. Armageddon is about shooting bugs, for the most part, there are some humans with bug helmets scattered around. The main issue i have with Armageddon is that the core gameplay is about shooting, whitch hasent gotten any better since Guerillas iffy gunplay, while the gimmick of destruction just demands as much attention as possible. I tried to make the most out of blowing things up to make buildings fall with enemies inside, or fall onto other buildings, but everything seems to be too far away or too short to do that with. In the first level I tried the hardest to do this, and sucssesfully knocked down one building. as the levels move forward, you will get a very strong sense of being pushed into a funnel, thats because they moved away from the open world to caves where your destroyed buildings will either get in the way or fall pitifully, making you remember that one time in Guerilla that you blew up a building and it covered the entire counrty.

The nano forge is an interesting addition to the game, but isnt really something I think we needed. the nano forge is something that you can use to repair broken things in a radius around you, so you can remake cover, bridges, and other things. it could have an interesting use, but Ive never seen it. The nano forge seems to only be in the game so the designers could make stairs destructable without having to find a way to still get to the objective.

I strongly reccomend giving this game a pass. If you want to get into the series, pick up Guerilla for the same price.
If you wanted more of Guerilla, find a few friends to play the old multiplayer with, since its been put on steamworks now. If you were looking for more of Guerillas shooting in corridors, then this will be for you.

Looking around online people say its good because its hard, but thats not entirely true. Yes the game is difficult, but its difficult because it respects you. Many games recently will hold your hand, and lead you through the whole game without really giving you much challange, Dark Souls changes that. You will fail. a lot. But dont let that discourage you, each failure is a chance to learn how to be better. The game wants you to succeed, but only after you earn it.

Its your goal to be the Chosen Undead, but destiny isn't what chooses you, you have to prove youre worthy of the title.
