I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate the Arena. Whoever designed it, clearly haven't played it ONCE because the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Tide-whateverthe♥♥♥♥ and the two Snapmaws constantly stun-lock you, and you can do jack-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-♥♥♥♥.
Honestly, it's all over the game - this constant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feeling of hitting my head against the wall, stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics just to make it artificially harder for you to progress. It's not funny, it's not challenging, it's not satisfying, it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb. Like hiding the collectibles behind metal flowers, the stupid exploding wall ♥♥♥♥, and breathing mask - they don't introduce new mechanics - they just magically unlock small areas for you to find ♥♥♥♥ in. That's it. You don't use these abilities ANYWHERE ELSE. At least metroidvanias like Ori do it well because - GUESS WHAT - you actually USE THOSE ABILITIES which enable you to progress to new areas IN COMBAT AS WELL. And you can MOVE FASTER thanks to them. Mind-blowing, right? So yeah, Horizon Forbidden West - more content but needlessly and stupidly annoying.
Go replay the Zero Dawn or some ♥♥♥♥ instead, I don't care.

Smart and entertaining but could use a chapter list for easier navigation. May the kissing frogs bless your face!

Early Access Review
Let me tell you up front, that this game does not have survival gameplay, multiple star systems, mechs, trains, wheeled vehicles, economy, diplomacy, factions, Steam Workshop or easy multiplayer support YET.
What it is for now, is the most powerful spaceship voxel building simulator on the market, period. It lets you make rotatable child entities, unlike Avorion, and stretch voxels, unlike Space Engineers, Empyrion, Starmade, and pretty much every other space voxel sandbox. The brick greebling is really tight with 25cm-dense grid, and you can make it even tighter if you offset with tiles, allowing for crazily-detailed replicas. Hitboxes are really tight, so the ramps, hatches, and doors you build stay flush with their boundaries. Logic gate-based programming is easy to use if you want to keep it simple but enables really complex mechanisms if you're willing to learn and experiment. Stickers let you paint a block differently on each side and design complex camouflage. There's also hover-vehicles, station-to-station connectors and buildable hand guns. In terms of ship weaponry, you can build gimballed manual/automatic turrets using either plasma blasters or beam lasers. Missiles and kinetic weapons are planned.

Tl;dr: Best creative spaceship voxel builder for now, with lots of features (survival, too) planned.

Avorion in 2 minutes:
X3 with voxel building. Fleet management, procedurally generated galaxy, factions, ships, starbases. Diablo-style weapon and module drops. No planets. You are your spaceship Eve Online-style. No interiors (you can make ones if you REALLY want to). Exploration of relatively small 3D pockets of space. Stretchable voxels. (!) No sub-grids. Crazy good optimization and virtually limitless spaceship size potential (yes, you can make 1:1 Death Star replica.) Good Steam Workshop support. Very good Quality of Life features. Mining, trading, piracy, wars, boss fights, quests, healing lasers, beam canons, railguns, shields, torpedoes, fighter carriers, salvaging, and many more. Multiplayer #1: players can man the turret groups on your ship, #2 players can operate their own ships and fly in a corporate fleet with you. Otherwise singleplayer. Progression incentivized by unlocking ship capabilities by better materials. Sound design is poo-poo, almost non-existent music. Overall, 9/10.

Crisis averted - the small grid control station's been moved to the base version of the game.

The single most useful feature of this update - the small grid control seat - is locked behind a pay wall. Exactly the same way, as the industrial cockpit was.

While I don't mind shelling out 4 bucks for such an awesome DLC, some people might. That will potentially limit the interest in the blueprints that use those extra parts. If Keen wanted to get some additional revenue out of the game, they should've just make the engineer skins paid for instead of an expansion pack that features stuff you can build and interact with only when you buy the DLC. Imho, that stuff should've been in the base game in the first place.
