This game feels like everything MWII should've been, bar the campaign.

The MP is faster, with spawns that make at least SOME semblance of sense, a time to kill that lets you have gunfights that aren't purely reaction-based, and more guns than we've ever seen in one CoD game. The armory unlock system is mediocre at best, and is just an extra layer of progression to slow players down from unlocking everything. Luckily, zombies helps mitigate the system. SBMM is still a pain, but that's the one thing the community will (sadly) never win on. Activision isn't going to budge, and if that's a deal breaker for you, that's completely 100% fair. Outside of that, this game truly feels like a return to form. If you didn't get MWII, this MP is essentially a flat upgrade. If you want a CoD game that feels like the old days, this is about as close as we'll ever get.

Zombies is... different. It's not what anyone was expecting or asking for, so it immediately gets some flak, which to some level is fair. If you're looking for a classic round-based zombies experience, this isn't it, and it won't satisfy that itch. However, if you take a step back and compare it to DMZ instead of classic zombies, I find it MUCH more enjoyable. It's also perfect for unlocking weapons and things you otherwise would have to do daily challenges to unlock. People give it flak, but I enjoy it. It's much more fun than I expected, and I recommend it.

The campaign really feels like SHG did whatever they could with what little time they had to make it. It feels rushed, cobbled together, and if you play it like a CoD campaign normally plays, you flat out won't have a good time. The story isn't anything to write home about, either. It has its moments, but there's a lot of mundane surrounding them. If you play CoD for the campaign alone, this isn't worth your 70 dollars.

Overall, this game isn't the greatest. A rushed game thrown together in 14 months, with a mediocre campaign and a controversial third mode. The MP is solid, and it looks like the content the game will be bringing over the course of the year will be great. The start isn't great, but if SHG keeps content rolling, and they stay on top of communication (which they have been so far, which is a first for CoD in a LONG time), this game is going to be a good year for CoD. We'll see in time, and maybe I'm too optimistic, but keep an eye on this one. I've got a good feeling about this.
