4 years ago we were teased with Ark 2 at the 2020 Game Awards. 3 years later, almost as if the devs themselves forgot what they promised the Ark community, this hot garbage drops in our laps. A complete re-skin of ASE we are given Ark Survival Ascended. While the beauty is there in spirit and in the trailer, the truth is this game is so poorly optimized it makes the the original launch of the Early Access ASE (which I was there for) feel like a completed and polished game. And anyone who played ASE at launch knows this is not the case.

It has been 1 full year since ASA was released. 1 FULL YEAR! I reinstalled the game because it was barely playable at release thinking to myself, "Oh its been a while, surely the devs care enough to polish and optimize the game to allow me to enjoy it." And wouldn't ya know it, they didn't.

1 year ago I was able to get 45 fps with some medium graphics and some on low. Still the game felt unplayable with all the crashes and bugs and I decided to wait. Here we are 1 full year later and wouldn't ya have guessed it! No improvements. ACTUALLY, it has in some crazy way gotten so much worse!!!! This time around I turned all the settings and graphics to low, followed all the guides online to max FPS down to ~r.volumetriclouds 0 and fog 0. Turned foliage almost completely off. A potato should have had a better chance to run this game. I could barely get 20 fps at times. HOW!? How in 1 year since release has this game gotten worse!?!?

At this point I must see it for what it is. Studio Wildcard is solely after the dollar signs. They do not care about their player base, they do not care how they look to the gaming community, they do not care how negatively they are reviewed. They care about one thing. Sucking in suckers like me with false promises. False hope for games that can be well polished and clean. Fake news of games that may never see the light of day. Sketchy contracts with server hosts who also was to for lack of a better word, steal your money.

In my opinion, which I know isn't much, ASA is the scummiest money grab I have ever come across. Unless you are running a super computer, and even then I doubt you would get over 60 FPS, stay far far far away from spending money on this game. Its a sad, poor excuse of an effort. We deserve better.

Im running a 3060RTX with 32 Gigs of Ram. My system should handle a game like this no problems. Get it together Studio Wildcard.

Over 1500 hours and who knows how many hundreds of dollars spent on this game, I was banned for NO REASON! Appealed, and waiting for EA to respond. Latest update wiped almost everyone's accounts. Mine too. So when I went to verify files and restart, I logged in and was banned. THANK YOU EA!! You have stolen my money. And everyone else's too it seems. Lobbies are full of cheaters that DO NOT GET BANNED. Respawn and EA turn a BLIND EYE to pros and popular content creators who CHEAT BLATANTLY! The game uses a method that places you with the worst players in the best lobbies so that you get owned over and over and over, unless you are a content creator or pro then your lobbies are all bots so you can make content for the developers. Season 20 and the AUDIO PROBLEMS ARE STILL NOT FIXED! Respawn/EA fire a ton of their software team members and now this game just died in ONE SINGLE UPDATE! I am beyond angry and aggravated at how much money I have lost to this game. Abandon all hope ye who dare download this game.

This is my first Steam game review. Haven't really felt the need to review a game until now.
I have to say first and foremost I love this game. Actually I spend way too much time on this game.

For an early access game this is one of the most polished games I have played. There is so much to do in Ark that the game never gets boring. The ever changing world and updates show that the developers really care about their players.

My first few hours playing this game went something like: Wake up, walk, get chased, die.... wake up, walk, gather some thatch and wood, get chased, die.... Wake up, run, die..... Wake up, get stuck in a base, get killed by tamed dino.... Wake up, and survived...

Having a clan has been productive as now I have a fortress built with many tamed dinos. One thing I believe could change is the length of time that dinos take to tame. Some can take up to 12 human hours to tame and I don't know of anyone who has that kind of playing time.

PVP Games are fun with the fact that anyone can do anything at any time. Don't be surprised if you log on and find your house destroyed! It will happen. Finding out who is the culprit and taking revenge is most of the fun.

This game gets 4.5 out of 5 in my book. I'm sure once the game is complete and optimized I will give it a 5 out of 5. Just waiting for the optimization to get finished so the game will run at epic and have no loss of frame rate on my PC.
