Criminally underrated game. Critics gave this game middling reviews when it first came out on the PS4 in 2019 due to the review code being buggy and lacking a major day one patch that was available to consumers on the game's release date. As such, ii was critically panned. As a result, word of mouth got around and sales ultimately suffered. Sony also did a lousy job marketing this game pre-release, something they are unfortunately notorious for. Despite critical reception, the game enjoyed moderate success sales wise. When the dust settled, Sony denied a sequel pitch from the developers , Bend Studio, (a first party developer for Sony).

As of writing this, I only have 13 hours logged on the PC port, however I earned the platinum trophy on the PS4 the year this came out, and was happy to revisit it on PC. The PS4 experience was flawed due to it only being 1080p and struggling to maintain a 30 fps frame rate on the base model PS4. This PC port is a dream - the game is absolutely gorgeous and I'm having a blast revisiting it at 1440p with as high as a framerate as my GPU will allow (averages above 100 fps with a 'high' settings across the board). I have had zero stability issues and there are plenty of graphical tweaks and settings to tailor the experience for your hardware.

Fun and immersive open world game. Reminds me of 'The Last of Us' (I know I know..not on PC until later this year when Sony will make available 'The Last of Us Part 1' on PC) with the visceral combat and the crafting system. When you're not fighting hostiles in the form of fellow humans and infected (which, quite stupidly are referred to in-game as "freakers") you're scouring your environment for crafting supplies and ammunition. Think of it as an open world 'The Last of Us', but instead of having a human companion with you most of the time, your companion is your bike which is upgradeable.

Decent story for a video game - not extraordinary, but engaging and definitely above average. Deacon St. John is a flawed, likable character and there are plenty of interesting supporting characters to interact with along the way, not to mention some compelling plot twists and turns. All in all, a really good game which unfortunately won't get a sequel. Purchased during the 2022 Summer Sale at $24.99, which is a steal even if I've already played it to completion on another platform.

If you like open world games, zombies, and 'Sons of Anarchy', you'll for sure dig this.
