To get this game to run in VR was somewhat of a pain. After the game initially loads you end up getting this blank gray screen and allows you to select nothing. To fix this you have to go to the EA site, download its origin app, make an account using your steam account, link the accounts, keep the EA app open while running the game and finally you can hop into the gameplay. I could not find a way to control the ship using my VR controllers. So I was forced to use my keyboard while using the headset. I guess they expect you to use the "force" like Luke Skywalker blinded in order to guess if you are hitting the right key or not. The concept seems cool but I did not enjoy myself whatsoever.

One of the best games I have ever played. Half-Life: Alyx was my first VR title experience. If anyone just picked up a meta quest 3 like I did, I highly recommend this game as your first introduction to VR. The story, the immersion, the combat, everything is top tier. I was hooked the entire experience. It was not something I wanted to rush through at all. I took my time to admire all the environments and search the hidden areas looking for extra loot. It has been so long since I have taken the time to play through an entire game. I found myself looking forward to go home and hop back into the Half-Life: Alyx story. I truly have not felt this way about a game since I was a kid. I love how the game is somewhat physically demanding you to crouch and even to get entirely prone to move through certain obstacles. The combat is super immersive as well. Having to utilize cover and maneuver through fire fights was a great experience. This game is a great blend between semi-horror themes (head crab guys), shooting rounds at fascist-like soldiers and solving unique and creative puzzles. The weapon customization and upgrades are awesome as well. Taking the time to find extra resin really pays off when you have your favorite weapon completely decked out, mine simply being the pistol. The only part of the game that I disliked was the part where you encounter Jeff. In retrospect I understand why this part was thrown in since it forces you to take your time to really figure out how to get out of the situation you're in. Overall this is one of my favorite games I have ever played. I love the fact that valve has no pressure to release Half-Life 3 and would happily wait 5+ years for the release. Its clear that they truly take their time with this masterpiece of a series and I can not wait to someday finally take a crowbar to the G-Mans face (:
