One of the best retro shooters in the past years, punchy as hell weapons, beautiful art style and gorgeous levels.

This game is such a buggy mess that it's almost unplayable and even if all bugs get fixed you will end up with a very mediocre game with some questionable game design choices.

Take Titanfall 2, remove absolutely everything that makes that game fun, and turn it into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ battle royale where you spend most of your time either on the menu, simply running or looting instead of, you know, shooting.

I love the creepy, unsettling and surreal atmosphere of this game, the music is also pretty good.
A short experience that is worth checking out. I would love to see a full game of this just to see how the story continues.

I grew up playing DOOM and never got the chance to play Quake until a couple of years ago and I must say if I have to choose between this two games I'll choose Quake.
Why? You may ask, well let me tell you.

-Gameplay is fast and consistent, you never have to worry about RNG to decide if your shots are gonna kill an enemy in 2 or 5 hits.

-The enemies are unique both in design and behavior which makes them pretty recognizable and distinct from each other, the Shambler being one of my favourites.

-The atmosphere, my favourite aspect of this game, dark and foreboding gothic castles mixed with Lovecraftian cosmic horror and dark fantasy makes for a pretty unique setting I never seen before, without mention the amazing soundtrack composed by NIN.

All of this fits together pretty well and is what set Quake apart from other FPS.

”Quake eclipsed the competition and was the final nail in the coffin for the so-called ‘DOOM Clones.’ No longer were such games mere imitators, but instead an entirely new genre. The First Person Shooter was born.”

If you like arcade type games you would like this one, it has a unique art style and the gun play is satisfying.

After playing the whole campaign I definitely recommend this game especially if you are a fan of retro FPS.

+Movement is smooth and it doesn't feel bad at all.
+Non linear levels with a lots of stuff to explore.
+Weapons are satisfying to use without limits of how many you can carry.
+Amazing sound design with an incredible soundtrack.
+Cool power ups.
+The game can get really spooky sometimes
