Ah yes, Cracktorio.
First of all, don't let the graphics discourage you. It may look like a really old game at glance, but it's not. It's an artstyle I've grown to like while playing it.

If you like Anno, you might like this. Game seems to be highly optimized, the developer's blogs seems to focus a lot on optimization too. It runs smooth on my old laptop even.

Has a lot of replayability IMO, and is one of those games you can chill to while listening to music. You can find an amazing community that has optimizations you can follow, inspiration for configurations, and just crazy logic-based creations.

Even though I have some 300+ hours, I am embarassed to say I've never reached the "goal" of the base game mode yet (to launch a rocket), but I am working on it, since I start so many new save games thinking I know better and can do it better this time around.

This is one of those games where you start it when you get out of bed, and boom, you forgot to eat dinner, but it's too late, as it's already late at night.

The game is worth it at full price, not that it matters, since the devs have said they don't want it to be on sale[www.factorio.com].

PC with Keyboard/Controller
Pretty fun with friends, a bit ♥♥♥♥♥ with controller apparently, but very accessability friendly. Seem like it will have hours of gameplay. Imagine a game like It Takes Two + Valheim.

It has some story, but a lot of conversation you have to click through at some points.

At times it can be very difficult, but thankfully it's not so punishing if you die.

Beware: Horrible Microsoft login
The biggest drawback is the horrible Microsoft account login you have to do, and can't rely on Steam for inviting friends. Sometimes the login loading takes upwards of a minute just loading.

Other times you log in successfully, yet it asks you to log in again, and gets stuck in a loop asking you to log in.

Microsoft Login on Steamdeck
On Steam Deck it is horrible experience to log in. It is suuuuuper buggy to enter email, and then especially password. Expect to maybe spend upwards of 30 minutes just trying to log in on a Steamdeck. Then it will randomly log you out after half a month or so and you have to do it again.

You also have to manually bring up the keyboard to write, and you have to use the touch to click around (which is also very buggy as it doesn't react properly).

Good game to play with friends, you just both need to get past the tutorial (it'll notify you once friend session is available), and may have to exit to main menu and then go back in to make friends session joinable.

Game runs pretty good FPS wise despite nice graphics. Guns and swords feels really nice to use

Poor FPS was fixed with an update on 25th April.

Update: 9th December 2022
Game still kinda has ♥♥♥♥ optimization though. My PC specs should be more than enough to get a good FPS in this game (specs at bottom, but 3070 Ti instead of 1080 Ti), yet I only get up to 40–50 ish. In multiplayer you may after a while (couple of hours) get worse and worse FPS, down to 5–15, when you're host.

Still a fun game though, but could be more enjoyable if they optimized it better. Basically every graphic setting change require restart.

I own half, if not more than half, of the DLC's. I can't say they're worth full price, maybe if on sale if you really enjoy the game and invest hours in it. The DLC's can be enabled and added on top of your existing game save (at least the ones I have).

Cannot recommend at this time.
Reason: FPS is pisspoor.

Even with everything on low. It seems like it doesn't matter if you play highest or lowest quality on all settings. It doesn't even show any signs of bottleneck on hardware as far as I can tell. Latest driver from Nvidia released with this game in mind, checked all power/performance settings and so on. Still no luck.

Build, getting me 32 FPS on lowest settings (native res):
i7-6850K
1080 Ti
32 GB RAM, 2133 MHz
Game running of SSD.
2560x1440 @ 165 Hz.

One of the few games I like playing a lot. Great graphics, runs smoothly for me, good story, hard dilemmas to tackle. From what I have seen the creators keep on adding stuff to it every now and then, and that does help for the replayability.

Now featuring endless mode, which you should try out after playing the main campaign — which is tge easiest one of all the scenarios, in my opinion. It would serve as a good way to get in to the game. There's also lots of people who do more in-depth analysis of efficiency and city planning which may be worth checking out on YouTube if you enjoyed the game.

You are very likely to fail at least your first playthrough, but it keeps you comming back for more.

If you're going to make a game hard, it is my opinion that making it locket at a mere 60 FPS is a good way to do it. I expected more of a modern game, especially at this insane price and all the glory it gets. Nor is it a good way to make the game hard even before you begin the game by only showing controls for console when I am playing this on a PC, without any way of changing it. It is plain stupid.

I spent way too long pressing random buttons to figure out what corresponds to what in the startmenu and in the game (eyes I did look at controls layout and key bindings to figure out some). I would still play it though, weren't it for the game being capped at 60 FPS. I know it may depend upon the way it is developed and whatnot, but I find it impossible to play with 60 FPS, especially when I'm used to 140+ with a 165 Hz screen to take full advantage of it. The controls feels both heavy and light, it's weird and uncomfortable too, which is a big turn-off as well.

I would refund it, but when I simply abondoned it and din't think about refunding until the time limit had passed.

If you want a proper hard fantasy game, with ish same combat system but even more depth with magic? Get The Witcher 3 (Set Death March difficulty). It deserves all the praise and is the best game I have ever played. The game's visual quality is unrivaled, the stories are gripping and personal, the world is immersive and the entire experience pure joy and excitement. Easily 100+ hours of gameplay, and the DLC's are near-free. Others sell DLC's at the price of a new game. TW3 seels a new game at the price of a DLC.

Why are you here? Stop looking at the reviews and buy it already. Get the DLC's too.
Someone once said something like this (and it's accurate);
"Other game creators creates DLC's for the price of a new game that is only a DLC. CD Project Red makes a new game and call it a DLC".

If you have a beefy PC, playing at ultra settings is a crazy experience. I am amazed by the amount of details every time I open it up after having played another game.

I've encountered few bugs, no more than other games so that doesn't really matter anymore.
What could be improved I guess is your personal storage chest. Transferring items take a while to do.
If you encounter max carry bug, drop an item and pick it up again.

You can install some mods too if you feel like adding more re-playability, in addition to the New Game+.

Early Access Review
Definitely worth if your friends buy it as well, jump in a voicechat and turn on collision.

Very entertaining game, runs good on low settings for me on a laptop.
Finished it a couple of times, and storyline is magnificent. You don't have to have played the other BioShocks to get full experience of this one, but if you have, there's some few moments that will make you feel great for recognizing some stuff.
Worth the money I'd say.
