Personally not a big fan of this game, I am a very long-time Rivals 1 player and I vastly prefer the mechanics of that game as opposed to this one. However, this game is a far more traditional platform fighter experience with a wider appeal. Previously I would've suggested Rivals 1 for people looking to get into the genre, due to Rivals 2 lacking a tutorial on launch. That problem has since been somewhat rectified with the addition of basic tutorials. More advanced tutorials are also still coming in the future, so hopefully this game will eventually have tutorials as good as Rivals 1. If you're looking to get into platform fighters, this game is the best place to start! If you're a Smash player, this game is also a great place to start for you too!

However, if you're interested in platfighters that AREN'T homogeneous with Smash, i'd recommend giving Rivals 1 a try over this game. I'm admittedly quite biased in saying that though, as I don't enjoy most Smash games. The only one i'd ever even THINK about playing outside of running sets with close friends is HDR, and Rivals 1's completely unique set of system mechanics are a huge factor in why it's my favorite platform fighter out there. While Rivals 2 isn't JUST another Smash game, it does feature several mechanics that are very unintuitive, and (in my opinion) feel like they're only included to make the game play more like Smash. (Yes i'm a floorhug hater, what about it?) These mechanics make some of those unique Rivals-exclusive mechanics feel way less interesting or rewarding to interact with (once again in my opinion). The game also completely omits drift DI, a mechanic from Rivals 1 that made DI far more intuitive for new players than in other platfighters. I don't think Rivals 2 is a bad game due to any of this by any means, it's still a good game! Rivals 1 is just my preferred game of the two.

Early Access Review
A really great Touhou roguelike!! I was a big fan of Touhou 18, and this game expands upon that general "Touhou roguelike" idea in really fun ways that make it even more compelling to me. It's still in early access as of the writing of this review so it does have its fair share of bugs, but that's to be expected. I'm a big fan of the character/boss roster here (Chiyuri and Yumemi in particular are really cool!!), the art is pretty, and the music is SO GOOD!!! I can't get half the songs in this game out my damn head, I can't wait to be able to pay for this soundtrack! The game is ABSOLUTELY worth the price tag, even in early access. ^_^

I love it!! Even past the fact that it's a version of Muse Dash that doesn't make me feel gross, i'm just a huge fan of this game's artistic and musical style. No idea what the name of the little dude you play as is but I love them! I have 1 major criticism with the demo, and it's the fact that all 3 of the cues featured in the demo use recolored versions of the same sprite. This makes it harder to tell which cue is which when you're in the heat of a fast song, and i'd imagine that it could cause major issues for colorblind players. Hopefully this can be addressed in a future patch and/or in the full version of the game. Looking forward to the full release!

Spent 5 bucks of my birthday money on this game and despite my computer meeting the recommended specs, I can't run it at anything past 10 to 20 FPS. Completely unplayable.

After following Pizza Tower's development since late 2018, i'm so happy to say that it turned out being one of my favorite games ever made. I cannot recommend it enough! ^_^

tl;dr: Combat focused game with tedious, boring combat. 6/10

Tried getting into the game once a while ago, I got past the first area and dropped it. I picked it up again today, and after getting past the next two areas, i'm dropping it again. For a game that focuses heavily on combat over everything else, the combat is some of the most frustrating and tedious I have played. You get two attack options, a melee attack with no variation and a bow with no variation. No up or down swings, no aiming your bow, nothing but swing and shoot. I've played puzzle games with more combat options than this. Even worse, enemy attack patterns are boring and samey, and bosses are huge damage sponges. Difficulty options change your HP and nothing else, and enemies on hard mode (and even normal mode too!) can sometimes kill you in one or two hits, EVEN IN THE FIRST AREA. The platforming is just as mediocre, and same goes for the map designs. So many dead ends with nothing in them! Why? I want to leave a note here about the story, but it seems to be nonexistent for the most part, even in reviews from people who finished the whole thing. All and all, I didn't hate the game. I could never hate it with those beautiful graphics, but it was so frustrating and boring that I couldn't be bothered to finish it despite how apparently short it is. From what I can tell in other reviews, none of this improves as the game goes on, and you get a whole one upgrade that gives you any new options in or out of combat. I want to like this game, but it just kinda sucks.
