I would recommend this game to anybody, but given how little valve cares about this beloved game, I can't help but go against recommending it, valve shows little to no attention to this game and it's player-base to the point that all they ever update the game with is community made content (which can often be a mixed bag of quality) and none of their own, we were hinted at a major update relating to the Heavy that was never implemented ( and we still wait upon) and casual is filled to the brim with bots, that take innocent players names, and generally give everyone more hardtimes than they should do in this game.

the short story of all this, TF2 has been neglected long enough, bots need to go, valve continues to monetize the game despite it's current predicament, F2P's can't even use basic communications, and this game needs the love and care brought back to it from valve.

f2p user here, i would rather be honest with this review than sugar coating everything.

Action taimanin is a pretty solid game considering it's a mobile port, i know nothing of the show or it's "infamous" OVA, but the characters are quite interesting, i like the dynamics between them and the daily shenanigans they get themselves involved in, from the fierce competition between Asteroth & Asagi, to the brotherly care of Fuuma & Noah.

the game offers quite the variety of things to do, such as time trials, daily quests, events, story mode ETC.
all with rewards after successfully completing them, you can also build affection with the recruited taimanins you wish to make stronger, all with their own benefits and unique emotes, this also applies for supporter characters, (they grant you slight buffs in combat) where upon reaching max affection (lvl5) you earn a visual cutscene between Fuuma and the character you've maxed out, where it details the relations between him and his colleagues, which often leads to cute, funny & somewhat wholesome scenarios.

I'm not going to lie, i went into this game expecting the worst of the worst, but came out with a different perspective, i really enjoy the characters and how expressive they can be, how they play, how they look and their interactions, there definitely is potential ground for a genuine series with these characters given the very slice of life approach they all have, favourites of mine in particular have to be sakura, asteroth, Maika & Emily, all great characters rich with personality & charm.

some of the gameplay this game offers can be really fun, seeing how far you and your team grow in power together and overcoming difficult tasks, giving gifts, and getting outifts amongst other things, but this game isn't without it's flaws, i'll be getting to those now.

flaws
---------------------------------------------------------------------

By all means, i'm a F2P user, i've not spent my life savings into this game for a large majority of it's content, but you see, the issue with this is that the game is very, and i mean VERY Hellbent on pushing you to spend money on character packs that are made to make your grinding pains that less tedious, including *exclusive* packs that often contain a highly desired item or character, of which you have no other means of getting other than surrendering your wallet.

another thing this game suffers is the ever so dreadful FOMO tactics, there will come a time where a character will get a really good skin, only for it to be a timed exclusive, and never be earned again, much like the aforementioned, you can only get these skins via purchasing character packs, that sometimes go for ludicrous prices when the content you want isn't worth the asking price, but they still charge as they throw in other "goodies" as a persuasive bait.

expanding on this, is something many need to be aware about before going into this game, before purchasing ANY taimanin, please check their costume range FIRST, whilst they maybe fun to play, you'll be smacked into the wall when you notice half of their costumes are locked in limited events that no longer happen (emily is a good example) leaving you with a character who sadly will have less greater stats, simply because half of their costumes are locked (costumes can also influence your character's base stats depending on how many you have) whenever these kind of events happen, when a character get's a unique skin, you are ultimately forced to purchase with real money and not gems.

on the subject of F2P, this game will do anything in it's power to get you to spend multiple amounts of dosh just for items or higher rarities to beat gamemodes designed for whale players in mind, (i'm looking at you taima VR) i've gotten to where i am in this game, simply through grinding alone, and it is incredibly Mind numming, this doesn't help with having multiple characters, as getting them to higher levels has given me burnout many many times, but i still won't cave in to spend anything that speeds up this progress, and neither should you.

another issue are the prices, i'm EU based (UK region ) but we are having to purchase in USD and not our region's currency, making what should be cheap packs look somewhat expensive than what they really should be, this can be annoying at times as i'm certain we end up paying more than what we should, i could be wrong, and i won't deny if that's the case, but i hope this gets an optional change soon.

Overall, i really do enjoy this game, but it is sadly being ruined with all the recent pay to win schemes being added in, from whale based gamemodes with ungodly amounts of unfair additions, to the horrendously slow late game grind only fastened by forking over dosh, i really want to say that this game is enjoyable, (which it is) i can't ignore it's glaring downsides which feel more like they hamper the experience instead of making it fun.

ending things on a light note : i hope we get some new addition regarding character interactions, where we the player can interact with our crew in some open space area, this can open up a whole new pool of ideas, as we get to see the dynamics between everyone outside of the story mode cutscenes, and how you as a player look after them (a kind of team morality / trust building factor that awards bonuses for that day)
