UPDATED:

I still love this game to death, but at a reasonable distance. It really does feel like with every update to the game the fun is getting sucked out of the experience, whilst the new things added do little to nothing to improve this.

The devs will not read this, they do not even so much as glance at the suggestions channel in their discord, let alone some random steam account, but for some small sense of closure I will be dropping all of the improvements I believe the game needs regardless.

If you were to count the number of talents that give some small-large boost to the individual instead of the submarine itself or functions of the submarine, this would dwarf the rest of the collective talent options a minimum of 3 to 1. This isn't great because it only takes a couple of biomes before out of sub gameplay becomes a death sentence. The inclusion of more than just, "different flavors of overrun outpost" would do wonders for the game and has a LOT to do with why there's entire subsections of mods that turn servers into something that isn't even a submarine game anymore.

(An additional very specific sidenote as it almost feels personal. The most recent update to the husk gene has made it do almost nothing until it hits high purity, making it essentially worthless until the point of the game where it's also worthless. At later biomes, pucs and deep sea suits are more or less necessary for heat hazards, and the creatures at that point are mostly instant kill meatgrinders. By the time you can actually use the gene for it's intended purpose it is too late to do so.)

The clothing options, while commendable in number for a game where this type of customization would not really be expected, does have some small stat issues. Due to some of the options vastly outclassing others, (and some being borderline necessary like clown or medical garb) the options tend to be nothing more than, free fiber at the end of the day with a lot of interesting looks going entirely unused by anything but random npcs.

Finally the medical nerfs, teamed with the new creature updates, general skill and exp nerfs, and diving suit nerfs, legitimately feels like the games gone from, "a voyage where things go wrong and frequently" to, "Haha funny death streamer bait". It is at the point where I really don't think the game is going to see much end to end gameplay instead of one off, "get drunk and have a night of it" gameplay.

I have watched this games servers slowly dwindle to a single page because of these changes with little to no legitimate gameplay updates to bolster these decisions. I myself couldn't stomach it after the last 2 updates and stopped playing.

Overall this is still an amazing game and will still have my vote of confidence. It is and always will be an experience I will suggest everyone try once, even if now it is more likely to be only once.

If a dev does read this review then I would like to bring up the old adage, "The customer is always right, in matters of taste". If the players are frequently playing your game in ways you didn't intend, maybe before patching it up like a leaky pipe, take a moment or two to try and figure out why.

short but sweet, like if silent hill took all the frustrating puzzles out. Sadly counts more as a walking simulator as gameplay is next to non-existant, but its story is quite engaging andwill throw the player for a loop.

i hate to say this, but this game is just a giant farmathon after the 1st run through the story. the gameplay quickly loses its luster when you realize that a game where you have to put in so much effort just to survive only rewards you with a pretty much guaranteed slap in the face, (aka white items) and the knowledge that you're just going to have to run through the same crap over and over again just so you can have a half decent loadout for 1 character.

the new altar of sigmar and shard based forging system remove the randomness of whatever weapon the game throws at you, (whether it be the end of a mission or a forge result) which is a pretty positive improvement, but it just replaces it with even more farm (as the amount of shards recieved from salvagin items is pitiful) . this takes what was already a painful system and gives it all of the fun of a pay 2 win mmo without the exp boost.

the lvl system of this game is almost completely worthless; you unlock 3 trinket slots and thats it, (besides MORE white items because thats what the player wants right?) no active skills, no passive skills, and no way to really change the way your going to play the game.

the items are completely unbalanced and crudely favor specific fightstyles over others:
dwarf= use shield
empire soldier= use shield
witchhunter= use rapier and brace of pistols
wood elf= use whatever the hell u want but its gonna be dual swords and its gonna be bow (to be fair though thats how GW treats em too though and thats what they deserve, f**k elves)
bright mage= decide between burning through your life like a flagellant with a point to prove, hardly singing the rats with small bursts of spells between 30 minutes of venting "overcharge", or swinging at the enemy with a generic 1 handed weapon (this is a pretty awful representation of the winds of magic and i would gladly rather take a chance of getting sucked right into the warp
maneater aka ogre mercenary= use leadbelchers, the literal handcanno..... oh wait thats not a class in this, but rumor is we're gonna get 3 more elf classes..... FUN & INTERESTING

the story in this game is lackluster at best. the vermintide was an apocalyptic event and 1 of the multiple plights that lead to the destruction of THE WHOLE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PLANET, and yet there are no named characters on either side to be seen, there are no heavy duty creatures and/or warmachines ( a hellpit abomination is about the size of 3 rat ogres standing on top of each other and has a chance to just come right back to life after dying, but they vaguely hinted at the screaming bell and some doomwheels so its TOTALLY an apocalyptic scale game guys). SPOILER ALERT the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss of this game is a grey seer, no not Thanquil and his loyal rat ogre bodyguard Boneripper, just a greyseer (who is a suspiciously good caster compared to the bright mage). where are the clan chieftans and/or skaven warlods he blackmailed into enacting his devious plans? there arent any, he just got a few clanrats, skavenslaves, and whatever else he coud buy with a little pocket change and figured, "eh good enough more warp tokens for me" (actualy that sounds exactly like thanquil, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs your missing out on an awsome opportunity).

when playing this game i feel alot less like i want to play the game and alot more like i want to get good items so the game might eventualy become more fun. unfortunately i think if i were to actualy own said items the game i would find it boring and move on to a different game (kind of like everyone did with L4D. you see what i did there?)

unbalanced and frustrating unless you like playing as large breasted women or creepy emo elves leave this game alone because it gives huge easy to play advantages to specific characters and makes others almost impossible to play
