Easy to pick up and play, fun art style, and some decent challenges.
All round good game!

Have you ever dreamt of sending a sentient mushroom into a black hole only to have him return as a horse man?
Or perhaps of leading a species of fox people in galactic genocide?
Or maybe discovering planets full of pre-sentient creatures and bringing them to sentience specifically because it makes them taste better?
Well this is the game for you!
There is such rich depth to the game, especially for those willing to delve role playing obscure species (rather than just a 'science + dominance' play style).
The game is subject to the usual 'Paradox DLC' syndrome, but if you're playing with friends you can experience the DLC without having to purchase it yourself, which is nice.
Despite all of my played time, I've only actually finished a handful of games. While there is still a lot to the late game, the brilliance of the early-mid game outshines it, so I find it more fun to think up some new species and return to the humble beginnings.
All things considered, I've greatly enjoyed my ~300 hours playing this game:
